The White House on Tuesday released a report that designates the Jan. 6 Capitol riot a “domestic terrorist attack” and endorses an internet purge of “extremist” content.
The description is likely to draw stiff disagreement from allies of former President Donald Trump who say that the riot, which disrupted certification of President Biden’s victory, has been used to facilitate political censorship.
A store clerk was fatally shot and a suspected assailant and a police officer injured after a dispute over a face mask requirement escalated into a firefight inside a store in Georgia.
After getting into an argument with a cashier at a Decatur, Georgia supermarket on Monday afternoon, 30-year-old Victor Lee Tucker allegedly opened fire, killing the employee and sparking a gun battle inside the store, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
Green Party launches process that could eject Annamie Paul from leadership
The Green Party of Canada has triggered a process that could remove Annamie Paul from the party’s leadership.
According to party members with knowledge of the issue, the party’s federal council will hold a vote on July 15 on whether to remove Paul from office.

One of two suspects in a mass shooting that injured 14 people in Austin, Texas, has been apprehended, but the local newspaper is continuing to withhold the alleged shooter’s description to avoid “perpetuating stereotypes.”
Austin police offered no details of the arrest, other than to say that it was done with the help of a US Marshals task force. Mention of the arrest was tacked on to an earlier statement regarding the Saturday morning shooting, which described the alleged shooter. It’s not clear whether that description applies to the man who was arrested or to the suspect who remained at large as of Saturday evening.
