Trump goes to war with ‘fake news’ BBC

Donald Trump’s White House has accused the BBC of “purposeful dishonesty” amid a row over bias at the broadcaster.
It launched its attack over the way the corporation selectively edited a speech made by the president, dismissing it as “100 per cent fake news.”
British taxpayers were being “forced to foot the bill for a leftist propaganda machine”, Karoline Leavitt, Mr Trump’s press secretary said.

The Beeb’s wilful distortion of Trump’s comments on 6 January 2021 was a whole new low for modern journalism.

The BBC loves to pose as a warrior against ‘fake news’. Yet it now stands accused of pushing an entirely fake account of President Trump’s behaviour on 6 January 2021. That’s the day the Capitol building in Washington, DC was stormed by a rag-tag army of angry right-wingers convinced the election had been stolen from Trump. And last year the BBC showed footage of Trump telling the mob he would march with them to the Capitol and ‘fight like hell’. Only that never happened. The BBC made it up. It doctored the footage. This is beyond serious. These are Pravda levels of manipulation.

This condition renders sufferers incapable of rational thought and perspective, and is marked by humiliating public displays of inarticulate rage, an inability to be civil to Republican family members at Thanksgiving, and kneejerk accusations of racism, Nazism, and fascism against Trump, his administration, and his supporters. There is currently no known cure for this tragic derangement. All we can do for the afflicted is pity them.

Why Trump speech scandal could be costly for the BBC

If Donald Trump’s recent tangles with the media are anything to go by, the US president will already be plotting his retaliation on the BBC for “doctored” footage of his Jan 6 speech.

The US president has famously become more aggressive towards what he calls the “fake news media” during his second term. Members of the press who have crossed him have been stripped of White House access or sued for millions of dollars.

Now, a report by one of the BBC’s own standards advisers has found a Panorama programme “completely misled” viewers by splicing together different sections of the speech Mr Trump gave before his supporters stormed the Capitol.

‘The BBC “doctored” a Donald Trump speech by making him appear to encourage the Capitol Hill riot, according to an internal whistleblowing memo seen by The Telegraph.

A Panorama programme, broadcast a week before the US election, “completely misled” viewers by showing the president telling supporters he was going to walk to the Capitol with them to “fight like hell”, when in fact he said he would walk with them “to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard”.

DON’T get me wrong: I’m painfully aware of how the left-leaning legacy media both here in America and in my home country of Britain are more than happy to tell lies when it serves their agenda. To say their mendacious flights of fancy would have made Hitler’s propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels green with envy is, I confess, shameless hyperbole. But think about the thousands who march through London calling for the destruction of Israel and, dare I be so bold, the elimination of the Jewish people – after all, what else can they mean when they chant ‘Death, Death, to the IDF’ or ‘Globalise the Intifada’? – and the comparison seems a little less excessive.

Often overlooked, however, is the tendency of the mainstream media (MSM) to lie by omission.

At last weekend’s “No Kings” protest in Washington, D.C., inflatable chickens bobbed above a crowd that, according to demographic research, was made up mostly of educated White women in their 40s.

Psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert said the “No Kings” protests were a snapshot of an era when emotional catharsis and civic activism have begun to blur.

It’s difficult to think of a more effective way to illustrate the moral and intellectual emptiness of the American left than to have them march around demanding an end to an institution our founding fathers abolished 250 years ago. This is how the official “No Kings” website described what happened on Saturday: “On October 18, more than seven million of us rose up at more than 2,700 events in all 50 states, DC, and cities worldwide to say: America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people.” These folks are a little late to the party, as Thomas Jefferson would probably point out were he still with us.
