The study of the Earth’s rocks and natural resources is racist and linked to “white supremacy”, according to a geography professor at a leading UK university.

Kathryn Yusoff, an academic at Queen Mary University of London, said the hard science subject of geology was “riven by systemic racism” and colonialism.

She also suggested palaeontology, the study of prehistoric life through fossils, was partly to blame for racism, labelling it “pale-ontology”.

But It’s OK to hold Whites collectively responsible for Slavery or anything else you’d care to name

This is Deb Lyons Canada’s Antisemitism Tsarina educating the public that “collective guilt” is wrong. I agree it is but why then is it fine to collectively blame Canadians especially White Canadians for Slavery and pretty much any other “social justice” grievance?

I posted this because I am getting more and more frustrated with people who assume thy can get away with supporting “Social Justice” and it’s racist off-shoot DEI so long as it’s only Whites who are its target.

Geoff Russ: Left-wing bureaucrats finally come for Remembrance Day

It should have been obvious that the anti-Canadian left would come for Remembrance Day eventually. The bigger surprise was how long they waited before incorporating ritual humiliation and scolding into the ceremonies of Nov. 11.

Of all the holidays, sombre and celebratory, Remembrance Day should strike decent and competent people as the one above the culture wars. It is deeply dishonourable to shoehorn modern ideologies onto the holiday that commemorates and pays tribute to Canada’s soldiers, both living and passed on.

Dog-free zones needed to make outdoors less racist, Welsh Government told

The Welsh Government has been advised to create dog-free zones to help make the outdoors “anti-racist”.

Labour’s devolved administration has pledged to rid Wales of racism by 2030, and set out a plan to ensure “all areas” of public life were transformed.

According to a report submitted to the Welsh Government to steer “anti-racist” policy, dog-free zones should be created to make the outdoors more inclusive.

Sometimes mass executions have an appeal.

Michael Higgins: The woke takeover of Remembrance Day

Left to our virtue-signalling elites, our hapless leaders and our ignorant educators, Canada would have forsworn its solemn duty to remember the dead and honour those who served.

Thankfully, ordinary Canadians are less susceptible to the vagaries of woke culture and DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) policies, and understand that bravery, duty and sacrifice are virtues that require us occasionally to pause, reflect and honour those who served.

To Combat Wokeness, We Need Karl Popper Back

The fundamental philosophical contribution of Austrian-born Karl Popper (1902-1994) is his falsification theory of knowledge. Sometimes it is contrasted with the ‘verificationism’ that emerged from the Vienna Circle in the inter-war period, arrestingly introduced to the English-reading public in A.J. Ayer’s youthful tour de force, Language, Truth, and Logic (1936). But the two enterprises are really quite different. Verificationism seeks to create criteria for meaning, suggesting that the meaning of a proposition can be derived from the way in which it is verified and that, therefore, propositions that were neither true by definition (‘all unmarried men are bachelors’) nor verifiable by observation (‘there is a cat on the mat’) were meaningless. When I was a philosophy undergraduate, in the atheistic environment of 1980s Oxford, ‘God is Love’ was held up as a paradigm case of a proposition which, being neither self-evident from its terms nor provable by empirical means, was not merely wrong but meaningless.

DEI Is Crushing Military Recruitment

Veterans worried about the quality of leadership are counseling young family members not to join up.

The veteran community has lost faith in the country’s national-security leadership. The military is a family business—80% of volunteers have a family member who served. Three years into a recruiting crisis, however, the Pentagon hasn’t specifically surveyed this core constituency to determine what’s going wrong.

Pew surveys in 2011 and again in 2019 found approximately 80% of veterans would advise young people to join the military. We recently commissioned a demographically representative YouGov survey of 2,100 veterans. Our data show the share of veterans recommending military service plunged 20 percentage points in five years, to just 62%.

“A’s” are gone from British Columbia report cards, but B.C. parents hoping to gauge their child’s performance find the newfangled “descriptive” grading system confusing, according to a new report.

Last year, the B.C. government scrapped the traditional A, B, C grading system for kindergarten to Grade 9 students in favour of a descriptive grading system that saw student progress judged along a scale from “emerging” to “extending.”

Leonid Sirota: Defunding universities will not rid them of wokeism

In a column prompted by the loony Twitter musings of a law professor, the Post’s Carson Jerema argues that, “Too many professors twist and abuse their status to push whatever progressive cause they care about at the moment” ― and that, “There is only one solution to this nonsense: defund the professors” (“Defund the Professors,” Carson Jerema, Oct. 23). At the risk of falling for outrage-bait, I would like to respond.

I think Canada could stand to lose a few Uni’s.

Bored of the rings: ‘wokery’ takes on Tolkien

“Woke” is a term much overused by those on both sides of the culture war but — a little like pornography — while it may be difficult to define, you absolutely know it when you see it.

The capture of the entertainment industry by an ideology — perhaps more accurately described as a group of roughly consanguineous ideas that seem, superficially, to be the Right, Kind and Thoughtful beliefs to hold — seems now to be absolute. Fiction of all kinds has been affected, but heroic narratives have proved especially vulnerable, perhaps because of the size and dedication of their audiences.

You will doubtless know the kind of thing I mean. The contemporary industry offers an emphasis on diversity of various kinds, defined or not, appropriate or not, as well as a quality of preachiness — the expectation that the viewer should share the avowed beliefs of the “creatives,” and that, if he doesn’t, it is a grave failing which requires urgent redress.

FEMA Doesn’t Care About Helping Americans After A Disaster, It Cares About ‘Disaster Equity’

What’s the point of a federal disaster agency if the chief priorities of said agency are not to save Americans from disaster?

In September last year, FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell joined the president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to sign the “Agreement to Advance Equity in Disaster Resilience.”

According to an NAACP press release, the group’s “Emergency Management Task Force … will meet regularly with FEMA leadership to advance progress on equity within disaster preparedness and resilience.”

Church of England criticised for racial justice job paying twice a vicar’s salary

The Church of England has been criticised for advertising a “head of racial justice priority” vacancy on double the salary earned by vicars.

The role will be responsible for spearheading the creation of a “racially just church” in the Diocese of London and comes with an annual wage of £66,646.

The salary is more than double the £31,644 stipend received by parish priests in the diocese.
