A claim for refugee protection in Canada by a family of three has been rejected because their appeal was apparently generated by artificial intelligence tools and riddled with fake cases and false legal arguments.
The Federal Court issued a sharp rebuke of a court filing that challenges an Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) decision that refused asylum to the trio, with Justice Roger Lafrenière saying the appeal is riddled with nonsense and calling it “an abusive document.”
OTTAWA – Prime Minister Mark Carney says with Canada’s immigration system back under control, the question now is when to begin a “controlled increase” of the country’s population.
Carney made the remark in a recent interview with the New York Times, just over a month before the government is required by law to release its immigration levels plan for the next three years.

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is woefully behind when it comes to protecting its only facilities at airports, ports of entry and offices from security threat and risk, an audit found.
A recent effort to catch up on that work has exposed major shortcomings: Unauthorized people walked into secure areas through “piggybacking.” Surveillance cameras were missing or too blurry to be useful to guard the facilities. And official stamps used to process travellers and goods at ports of entry couldn’t be accounted for.
