The Walk with Israel had not even begun and Toronto Police set the tone with its first arrest.

Toronto City Councillor James Pasternak says that he has been told by police that they will not allow the same “Gauntlet of Hate” to hector Jews to occur at the Walk with Israel as it did one year ago.

Had a good turnout.

It’s no secret that these are bad times for most Jews in the diaspora. Anti-Semitism across the West has reached a virulence not seen since the 1930s.

A clear danger should lead to greater solidarity, but instead we are seeing greater division among Jews. Shockingly, the scourge of Jewish anti-Zionism has metastasized after October 7, often allying itself with Islamists committed to the eradication of Israel and, in some cases, assaults on Jewish communities around the world.

Years ago, my wife and I were out for a walk when she asked me a question that has never left me.

“When did they know it was time to leave?”

University of Toronto law professor Peter Biro has resigned his fellowship from Massey College after he says the institution wanted an “advisory committee” to vet an antisemitism conference he was organizing.

“A good portion of Canadian society is utterly oblivious to the fact that our current age represents the next great transmutation of jew-hatred in human history,” Biro wrote in his resignation letter dated May 31. “That only underscores the critical importance of this conference.”

This week, while spring cleaning, I opened a drawer and found an old copy of the satirical French magazine, Charlie Hebdo.

Not an ordinary issue, but the edition published one week after the magazine was targeted by a violent terrorist attack, in which 12 people were murdered and 11 others were injured. The cover defiantly showed a tearful Muhammad holding a sign reading “Je suis Charlie” (I am Charlie).

Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw has laid down the law to anybody thinking about disrupting Sunday’s Walk with Israel.

“You are going to see a very substantial police presence and police response,” the chief told Newstalk 1010’s John Moore on Friday morning just hours before his Deputy Chief Frank Barredo was set to hold a briefing about the plan.

Performative hindsight?

A raging woman spewing antisemitic hate targeted a Jewish rider on a Big Apple subway Sunday, shouting in the packed train car “Jews are eating kids,” according to the victim and shocking video.

The suspect was shouting her furious rhetoric against Jewish people on a C train around 2:15 p.m., the victim, a 23-year-old Upper West Side woman, told The Post.

"It's okay for her to eat kids, but I can't choke her down?"

This is how blood libel becomes violence against Jews. People genuinely feel that attacking Jews is not just their right, but righteous.

For half a century, Doctors Without Borders enjoyed an enviable reputation. They were known and respected for their work in war zones and disaster areas, where volunteers and employees treated the wounded and sick. Known globally as Médecins Sans Frontières, or MSF, the NGO built its credibility on the principle that doctors are there to save lives, not to wage political campaigns.

That reputation is now largely gone, and like other powerful groups in the NGO industry, MSF has become a major platform for political and ideological propaganda campaigns that often accompany wars and terror atrocities.
