Putting aside the absurdly short time frames that countries like Canada are setting to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, what are the realistic ways to actually lower emissions effectively going forward?

Across a parched California, residents enduring a punishing drought are doing their bit to conserve water, taking shorter showers and packing their dishwashers efficiently to reduce waste.

However, some of the state’s wealthier citizens appear to be paying little attention, using vast amounts of water to keep pools filled and lawns green.

I get the impression that celebrities like our politicians expect to be lauded for their hypocrisy.

Among the critters that metabolically produce CO2 are bacteria. As far as I can find out, every creature on Earth that has a mouth has a gut. And nearly every gut’s biome contains bacteria, some more densely populated or more varied than others. Those bacteria give off CO2 as part of simply living. That CO2 escapes the bacteria’s host’s body during the process of elimination, usually through an anal orifice.

Imagine the theory of gravity being determined by a partisan vote. Or a group of politicians ruling on interpretations of the laws of modern physics. As bizarre as those propositions sound, that is what is happening in climate science.

In posts on both Facebook and Twitter, Rustad, the MLA for the Nechako Lakes riding west of Prince George, shared a graphic and post arguing that people had been “hoodwinked” by climate change science and they should be glad CO2 is being emitted into the atmosphere.

Sounds like they’re a bit fearful about following the science.

Deloitte is the largest “professional services network” in the world. Headquartered in London, it is also one of the big four global accounting companies, offering audit, consulting, risk advisory, tax and legal services to corporate clients.

With a third of a million professionals operating on those fronts worldwide, and as the third-largest privately owned company in the US, Deloitte is a behemoth with numerous and far-reaching tentacles.

The green agenda needs to become the topic of open, honest, balanced, and very public debate.

The CO2 Coalition, with only three full-time employees and an annual budget of under $1 million, had committed the unpardonable sin of sharing contrarian perspectives on climate science. Its work, produced by a network of volunteers that includes dozens of distinguished scientists, offers indispensable balance on a topic that requires honest debate now more than ever.
