Bruce Springsteen has been criticised for going ahead with a concert in Italy near where floods have killed nine people, submerged 35 towns and caused 250 landslides this week.
The American singer’s gig for 50,000 fans on Thursday in Ferrara, about 30 miles from the epicentre of the flooding, was described by a local councillor as an insult to the “pain, desperation and difficulty” of thousands of flood evacuees.
“We are sick of it. These bans are not just about trans people or drag performers,” PEG co-founder Jacob Slane told Entertainment Weekly. “It is a systematic subjugation of LGBTQ people. Through the Drag Isn’t Dangerous campaign, we want to show that drag performers are not dangerous groomers, sexual deviants, criminals or whatever is the latest evangelical slur du jour.

Cnn, you may have heard, abruptly fired longtime host Don Lemon last week. He announced his departure in a hastily composed note on social media.
“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN,” Lemon said in a statement shared on Twitter. “I am stunned.”
Don Lemon’s firing from CNN was in part due to his highly combative interview last week with Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, according to reports – with insiders saying Lemon was removed to enable a rethink of the struggling morning show, and warning that Lemon appears ready to sue.
Lemon, 57, has spent the last 17 years at CNN and was one of their most recognizable stars, believed to earn $4 million a year.
He was moved from his primetime slot to co-host a new show, CNN This Morning, which launched on November 1, but has failed to find its footing.

Back in 2008, Don Lemon was co-anchoring CNN’s “Live From” weekday show with Kyra Phillips, a gig that he landed after he arrived at the network two years prior from local news in Chicago. For months, tensions between the pair kept mounting. On more than one occasion, a “Live From” producer and a newsroom supervisor had to pull Lemon off the air during a commercial break because of the anchor’s provocative antics, not unlike his recent declaration that the 51-year-old Nikki Haley isn’t a viable presidential candidate because she “isn’t in her prime.” Amid the charged atmosphere, sources say Lemon disrespected colleague Nancy Grace on the air and Soledad O’Brien during an editorial meeting attended by roughly 30 staffers.

On Monday, the recording artist Madonna made an announcement regarding her forthcoming 35-city world tour: She had added Nashville, Tenn., to the roster. The stop was occasioned by the murder of six people, including three children, at a Christian school in that city on March 27. Madonna’s concert is billed as a fundraiser, but not for the victims of this particular attack. The show is pitched as a protest against Tennessee’s allegedly “inhumane” anti-trans legislation, and the concert will donate a portion of the proceeds to unnamed “trans rights organizations.”

The B-52s, the kitschy 1970s-80s rockers famous for their off-beat tune “Love Shack,” decried the various bills and laws across the country that they say “promote transphobia,” by banning transgender mutilation of children and drag shows aimed at children.

“The big question is, is CNN going to keep Don off air on a day-to-day basis?” said one well-placed industry insider. “If they wanted to keep him, they would suspend him for two weeks and call it a day.”
That’s one public figure I hope to see less of. As in never again if possible.
The problem with Don Lemon is that nobody has ever told him he’s not as good as he thinks he is.
He’s handsome and works in an industry that can inflate even the most constrained egos. Clearly, the CNN anchor has no constraints. He has allowed his ego to grow bigger than a Chinese weather balloon.
We are watching in real time the inevitable process of cutting Lemon down to size.
Poppy Harlow leaves CNN set after tense exchange with Don Lemon
Don Lemon’s acidic behavior has turned the stomach of another co-anchor.
A furious Poppy Harlow walked off the “CNN This Morning” set Thursday following a tense exchange with Lemon after he said GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley was “not in her prime,” The Post has learned.
According to sources with knowledge of the situation, Harlow took a “well-timed” bathroom break and was followed into the restroom by co-host Kaitlan Collins — who recently had her own run-in with Lemon.

One of the unsavory aspects of our current era is that firing a member of a “protected class” — racial and sexual minorities, plus women of any race — almost inevitably leads to cries of racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. When a person is a “twofer” ticking two boxes indicating presumptively oppressed status, you need a bulletproof list of offenses to charge the target with.
