Using language reminiscent of a travel agency advertising campaign, a Libyan migrant smuggler and some of his satisfied customers shot a promotional video aboard a migrant rescue ship belonging to a German NGO in the Mediterranean. The Italian authorities are now investigating what they call “promo videos” intended to publicize human trafficking services.
Italian officials are decrying an alleged rape by seven Egyptian migrants on a 13-year-old Italian girl in Sicily. The young girl’s boyfriend was reportedly forced to watch as two of the migrants assaulted her.
“I beg you, I beg you, don’t hurt me, let me go,” the girl, who has not been identified, said as she was being attacked according to Giornale di Sicilia, a local newspaper. She was allegedly attacked in a public restroom at the seaside town of Catania on the southeastern coast of the island.

You wouldn’t know it from the lack of attention in the European and American media, but the United States is moving quickly toward a major constitutional crisis. The cause? The massive number of illegal migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, which Washington is doing virtually nothing to stop.
Since 2021, the U.S. Government has caught 6 million illegal migrants have crossing illegally into America from Mexico, which shares a border with Texas. In December alone, a record high of 302,000 migrants crossed the Rio Grande—more than the number of migrants who entered Europe illegally in all of 2023.
Migration has cost Austria a whopping €21.6 billion in ten years, according to a report by the economic research institute EcoAustria. The institute made the calculations based on state revenues and expenditures starting from 2015—the beginning of the European migration crisis—to 2023, and financial projections for 2024-25.
Austria has faced a growing number of migrants entering the country in recent years, with 112,000 people seeking asylum in 2022. Though the number decreased last year—56,000 migrants claimed asylum from January until November—it was still the third-highest number since the beginning of the migration crisis. The issue has had political consequences: the staunchly anti-immigration FPÖ party has been leading polls last year, with almost a third of voters supporting them.

As a child of the ’80s, I recall with great fondness the Christmases of my youth: full of stinging cold winters and reassuring fireside warmings up; snowball fights and tobogganing; turkey dinners and endless festivities. The president of France’s supreme audit institution admits to deliberately delaying the release of a report on illegal immigration costs until after the parliamentary debate—and vote—on immigration law. The report, just released by the Cour des Comptes, shows the exorbitant sum of €1.8 billion charged to illegal immigration in 2023.
Published on Thursday, January 4th, the report is a harsh indictment of government policy, in particular the actions of Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, who boasts of having taken a tough stance on managing illegal immigrants. Darmanin claims to have introduced an effective policy for expelling illegal immigrants and says the expulsion rate of delinquent foreigners is up by 30%.

Before I dive into this disturbing story, take note: border “encounters” only take place when the Border Patrol actually apprehends an illegal migrant. Given how many “gotaways” there are, and how little effort there is these days to catch them, the fact that anybody on the terror watchlist is caught entering the country is something of a miracle.
