UK: Foreigners convicted of nearly a quarter of sex crimes

Foreigners are convicted of up to a quarter of sex crimes, according to the first data analysis of its kind.

Data from the Ministry of Justice, obtained under freedom of information laws, show that 15 per cent of sexual offences, including rape, were accounted for by foreign nationals between 2021 and 2023.

A further eight per cent of convictions were recorded as unknown nationalities.

Migrant deported in chains: ‘No-one will go to US illegally now’

Gurpreet Singh was handcuffed, his legs shackled and a chain tied around his waist. He was led onto the tarmac in Texas by US Border Patrol, towards a waiting C-17 military transport aircraft.

It was 3 February and, after a months-long journey, he realised his dream of living in America was over. He was being deported back to India. “It felt like the ground was slipping away from underneath my feet,” he said.

Gurpreet, 39, was one of thousands of Indians in recent years to have spent their life savings and crossed continents to enter the US illegally through its southern border, as they sought to escape an unemployment crisis back home.

Who Tops the List? Annual Asylum Report Reveals Changing Migration Patterns

While fewer migrants entered the EU illegally last year, the migration crisis continues, with only a slight downturn in the number of asylum applications.

The European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) published its figures for 2024, showing a slight overall decrease in asylum applications to the EU as well as emerging global migration patterns. Middle Eastern countries are still the primary countries of origin for applicants, but South American states could take their place in the future—if the current trends continue.

Compared to 2023, the annual report detailing last year records an 11% decrease in asylum applications submitted to EU+ countries (meaning EU member states, plus Switzerland and Norway), with the final problematic total still slightly above one million.

Groups such as the Community Self-Defense Coalition and the Anti-US Israeli Imperialism in the Middle East use their local knowledge and social media to disrupt any arrests being made by ICE.

Hegseth Warned of Military Action if Mexico Fails to Meet Trump’s Border Demands

MEXICO CITY—It was the first call U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth held with Mexico’s top military officials, and it wasn’t going well.

Hegseth told the officials that if Mexico didn’t deal with the collusion between the country’s government and drug cartels, the U.S. military was prepared to take unilateral action, according to people briefed on the Jan. 31 call.
