The late Jimmy Carter had his good qualities – or so, at least, they tell me – but when it came to Judaism and Islam he was easily the most problematic of presidents. It was his fecklessness that caused the Iranian hostage crisis – which, in turn, led to his 1980 landslide loss to Ronald Reagan. During his long post-presidential period, he used his Carter Center – funded largely by Arabs – to interfere inappropriately in world affairs. For decades, he shilled for the Palestinians, smeared the Israelis, promoted international recognition of Hamas, and, in 2015, laid a wreath on Arafat’s grave.
