An Iranian small-boat migrant accused of plotting a second terror attack on Manchester’s Jewish community on Yom Kippur previously claimed asylum in Germany, a court has heard.
Salam Ahmadyan, 36, and Rahman Salehi, 34, were arrested by counter-terrorism police in Manchester on Sunday, Sept 20, the day before Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
The men, who came to Britain illegally, appeared at Westminster magistrates’ court on Saturday morning, where they were charged with engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorist acts.
