The man accused of threatening to bomb the U.S. Consulate in downtown Halifax this summer is facing new charges of committing a terrorism hoax.
Ali Assakereh, 54, was arrested on Aug. 10 after Halifax Regional Police began investigating a threat received by the U.S. Consulate located in Purdy’s Wharf that led to much of the city’s downtown being put under a lockdown.
On Friday, Halifax Regional Police said in a news release that Assakereh now faces charges around hoax terrorist activity.
