The (er) joys of riding Toronto streetcars

I love a streetcar ride.

I’ve been riding Toronto streetcars as long as I can remember (I’m on my third generation of them now) and it’s always been my favourite kind of transit trip. I love the way they glide along the streets, rather than lurch and bump like the bus. I love watching the panorama of urban life outside. The views from the big picture windows of the latest generation are wonderful.

But even I have to admit that, lately, riding the streetcar has become an awful pain.

This woman is likely mentally ill. Why is she allowed to roam the streets when she is so obviously damaged?

Huge breakthrough in search for Amelia Earhart’s missing plane

A South Carolina man believes he may have discovered the plane Amelia Earhart was flying when she vanished over the Pacific Ocean in 1937.

Former U.S. Air Force intelligence officer Tony Romeo turned his fascination with the legendary pilot into an adventure when he embarked on an ambitious search for Earhart’s lost plane.

Romeo, who sold his commercial property investments to fund his search, managed to take a sonar image of an aircraft-shaped object on the ocean floor in December.

Rape crisis centre may lose funding over pro-Hamas politics

It’s a sick and twisted world when those who are supposed to help women suffering sexual violence instead stand with those who perpetrate it. That’s the case with one Toronto organization that claims to support a “world free of sexual violence.”

Note that the centre “May” lose funding. Think Chow will act or Ford?

A self-declared “abortion doula” spoke this week to Catholic University of America students about her experiences coaching women through delivering or aborting babies, as well as coaching “pregnant men” to deliver in what she called a “seahorse birth,” according to audio of the class lecture obtained by The Daily Signal.

MSNBC Suggests Supporting Israel Is Racist, Akin To Russia

For her Friday show, MSNBC’s Joy Reid launched a wildly anti-American and anti-Israel segment where she could hardly contain her excitement that South Africa was “standing up” to the West at the International Court of Justice as it accuses Israel of genocide. Guest and HuffPost senior diplomatic correspondent Akbar Shahid Ahmed was even more wild as he suggested support for Israel was racist and its actions are akin to Russia’s.

In the wake of a Langara College instructor loudly claiming that she’d suffered no professional consequences for openly endorsing Hamas terrorism, the institute has announced that she’s subsequently been fired.

In November, Natalie Knight was suspended from her job as an English instructor and Indigenous curriculum consultant after she made openly pro-terror remarks at a Oct. 28 “All Out for Palestine” in Vancouver.

Seattle Becomes Latest City To Shell Out Millions to BLM Protesters

Seattle on Wednesday became the latest city to give out millions of dollars to Black Lives Matter protesters who alleged they were injured by police in the summer of 2020.

The city agreed to pay $10 million after a more than three-year-long legal battle with a group of over 50 plaintiffs who said police mistreated them during the 2020 protests, which erupted in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police.
