Police are being told to make fewer arrests because of the lack of space in prisons, The Times can reveal.
Chief constables are being advised to consider pausing “non-priority arrests”, and also to suspend operations that may trigger “large numbers of arrests”, until there is enough capacity in prisons across England and Wales.

OTTAWA – Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly says Canada is “very closely” following a push from the International Criminal Court to prosecute the Israeli prime minister and Hamas leaders over the war in the Gaza Strip.
The court’s chief prosecutor requested arrest warrants Monday for Benjamin Netanyahu, his defence minister and senior Hamas leaders.
Ottawa has so far avoided supporting or denouncing the idea of charges, and ministers are only weighing in a day after peer countries took clearer stances.

President Joe Biden recently delivered the spring commencement address at Morehouse College, a historic black liberal arts college, and the speech did not go as planned.

Outrage erupted at an Oregon swimming pool after it was claimed a transgender woman was seen undressing in front of women and children.
One woman said she feared for her safety after the incident in the locker room at the Newport Recreation and Aquatic Center, reported KATU.
‘We do not want our children to see persons of the opposite sex or persons transitioning to the opposite sex undressed or nude,’ said Newport resident Linda Dinerstein at a council meeting on the issue Monday.
