NY prep school students sent to “porn literacy” training

Imagine you’re a parent paying nearly $50K per year (per child) to send your children to an elite college-prep high school. What is your response when you find out that the curriculum has been expanded to include a lecture offering literacy in the subject of pornography? That’s what happened to a number of families at the elite Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School in Manhattan this month. When the students were scheduled to attend a health and sexuality workshop, most didn’t think much of it. Health class always covers topics including reproduction, birth control and all the rest. But when the kids showed up, they learned it was a “pornography literacy” course with the subtitle “An intersectional focus on mainstream porn.” Needless to say, things went downhill from there. And consider this your “questionable content warning” if you click on that link.

In what perhaps might give alternative meanings to the terms home schooling or early intervention, a woman took to TikTok to identify the picture books that she’s apparently going to read to her infant son so that the purported future feminist won’t wind up as an “awful” white male.

CDC urges Americans not to kiss chickens amid outbreak

The CDC and public health officials are investigating salmonella outbreaks after 163 people were reported ill in 43 states.

The infections have been linked to contact with backyard poultry.

“Don’t kiss or snuggle the birds, as this can spread germs to your mouth and make you sick,” the health agency said.

It warned that poultry, like chicken and ducks, can carry salmonella germs even if they look healthy and clean, and these germs can easily spread in areas where they live and roam.

Call the ACLU! Isis in Nigeria cannot claim reward for Boko Haram leader, says US

The US government has told Islamic State-affiliated fighters in Nigeria they are not eligible for a reward after reports that the leader of Boko Haram had died during clashes in a forest in the north-east.

The US state department had offered $7m (£4.9m) for information about the identity or location of Abubakar Shekau as part of its global counter-terrorism rewards programme aimed at tracking down leading violent extremists and other fugitives.

It is thought Shekau either killed or badly injured himself on Wednesday by detonating explosives strapped around his waist to escape capture by fighters from Isis’s West Africa Province, known as Iswap, which had stormed his stronghold in the vast Sambisa Forest.

That’s discrimination!

Chief  Weasel of Surrender Forces

A top French military official has said that while it will be difficult for the EU to forge a “common political identity,” Europe must not be forced to choose sides in the rivalry between the US and China.

In an interview with Le Figaro, the chief of the defense staff, Army General Francois Lecointre, spoke about the dangers coming from powers that “challenge the stability and international law,” in particular, Russia, China, and Iran.

“We are heading towards a reorganization of the world order that is structured around the competition between the United States and China,” the general said, adding that every nation “will be called upon to choose sides.”

Infectious-disease scientists at Canada’s high-security lab collaborated with China

Scientists working at Canada’s highest-security infectious-disease laboratory have been collaborating with Chinese military researchers to study and conduct experiments on deadly pathogens.

Seven scientists in the special pathogens unit at the National Microbiology Laboratory (NML) in Winnipeg and Chinese military researchers have conducted experiments and co-authored six studies on infectious diseases such as Ebola, Lassa fever and Rift Valley fever. The publication dates of the studies range from early 2016 to early 2020.

The Globe and Mail has also learned that one of the Chinese researchers, Feihu Yan, from the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) Academy of Military Medical Sciences, worked for a period of time at the Winnipeg lab, a Level 4 facility equipped to handle some of the world’s deadliest diseases. This researcher is credited as a co-author on all six of the papers. However, on two of them, he is listed as being affiliated with both the Winnipeg lab and the military medical academy.

Has anyone been shot yet?
