On Tuesday, we learned that Michelle Obama will be skipping Donald Trump’s inauguration next week. This follows her absence at Jimmy Carter’s funeral — she was the only living former first lady to miss the event — which raised some intriguing questions, like whether there are marital issues between her and Barack. The Obama office gave no explanation for her planned absence; however, sources close to Michelle claim that her decision to skip the inauguration is, in fact, about sending a “powerful statement.”

Seems a win to me.

And the media were ready to amplify the proclamation that Trump ‘would have been convicted.’

Remarkable how harmoniously the legacy media can belt out a tune, even one that suddenly breaks out after midnight.

Just kidding, of course. There was nothing spontaneous about the public issuance of Biden-Harris Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith’s report on the January 6 (J6) case — the 146-page Volume I of his two-volume final report on the investigations of now-president-elect Donald Trump. Smith’s media megaphone was prepared for its publication in the wee hours after lapsing of Judge Aileen Cannon’s temporary restraining order — that order being the reason that the second tome, Smith’s Mar-a-Lago (MAL) report, remains under wraps.

Taxpayer-funded National Public Radio relished describing Donald Trump with words “criminal” and “convicted” and especially a “convicted felon.” Friday’s sentencing in New York offered a golden opportunity. I could tell this was coming because in Friday’s 9am top-of-hour newscast, they talked of Trump’s “criminal sentencing” three times.

President Trump was released on an “unconditional discharge” on Friday morning at a sentencing hearing for his conviction in the long running hush-money case, and became the first ever president in the U.S. history to be sentenced in a criminal case and become a convicted felon. Trump did not attend the hearing in person. He appeared virtually from Florida. He can now appeal the conviction and has sworn to do so.

Trump-appointed District Judge Aileen Cannon blocked the release of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s report on his investigations into Donald Trump and two of his employees.

The two investigations included mishandling classified documents and interference in the 2020 election. The hold in releasing the report is to allow the 11th Circuit Court to review the emergency motion by Trump’s codefendants, Walt Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira, who were charged in the mishandling of classified documents case with obstruction-related crimes.

Could leftists be planning an insurrection during President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration?

It’s certainly possible – even after all their caterwauling about the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol building.

Over the decade of Donald Trump’s political career, the left—as exemplified by Democratic politicos, the media, academics, the Washington military hierarchy, and the permeant bureaucratic state—illustrated a level of furor, venom, and near madness unprecedented in modern American history.

Yet stranger still about such visceral, indeed lunatic hatred, despite Trump’s eccentricities and lack of a traditional political resume, his administration between 2017-21 was successful by traditional economic, military, security, and diplomatic standards. It was certainly not characterized by weaponizing the DOJ, Pentagon, CIA, or FBI, get-even vendettas, the use of lawfare, corruption, optional wars, open borders, hyperinflation, or a war on the environment—as predicted and alleged. Nevertheless, the idea of Trump as president justified to the left the greatest assault on our civil liberties, justice system, and free expression in modern history.

Sunday’s edition of MSNBC’s The Weekend was in meltdown mode over a Trump get-together at Mar-a-Lago for a screening of a documentary about John Eastman’s legal tribulations.

Rudy Giuliani and Peter Navarro were in attendance, and Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni was also at the screening. The Weekend panelists portrayed the get-together as a celebration of the events of January 6th.

The Left’s refusal to face reality has hit a fever pitch. Despite their incessant cries about “defending democracy,” they’ve proven time and again they only respect election results when they win. The results of the 2024 presidential election have laid this bare once again.

It feels like everything’s building to a crescendo, doesn’t it? The past is prologue, and it’s all leading to…

…something.

The trouble is, when you’re knee-deep in a historical arc, it’s next to impossible to accurately define it. You might be aware that something big and consequential is going on, but you can’t contextualize what the hell it means until afterward. It’s like trying to take a picture while driving 200 miles an hour — everything is blurry and distorted.

The year of 2025 is looking very much like the year of 2024, chaotic, grim, worrisome, airplane-crashy, genocidal, and frankly a bit short of the generous human behaviour I had been expecting for its first week.

I’m glad that former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, a good man among less good men, reached 100 but even he didn’t want to add a few more years, not if they were Trump years. Go out at your peak of esteem, a round number.

NEW YORK — President-elect Donald Trump will be sentenced on 34 counts of falsifying business records ahead of his swearing-in on Jan. 20, a judge ruled Friday.

The decision to schedule the sentencing Jan. 10 almost certainly means Trump will be the first felon to serve as a U.S. president.

New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan wrote in his ruling that he does not intend to sentence Trump to jail. He said he plans to order an “unconditional discharge,” a designation in New York criminal courts for a non-jail and non-probation sentence that carries no other obligations.

Fox News Digital offered a set of stories on what left-tilting comedians have been saying this week. Lindsay Kornick reported Kathy Griffin is at it again, promoting her comedy tour “My Life on the PTSD-List” on Chicago’s WGN radio on Tuesday. Griffin described being able to travel again after her decapitated-Trump stunt from 2017 put her on the “no-fly list.”
