After a Year of Violence and Madness, Portland Goes From Dumb to Desperate

Over the past year, Portland, Oregon, has descended into violent anarchy and madness. It chose this destructive path.

Its hapless trust-fund baby mayor, Ted Wheeler, let antifa thugs chase him from his posh home. (Voter tip: Don’t elect dopey trust fund kids to power. They lack even the basic life experiences the rest of us have to enable them to do much more than walk and chew gum at the same time. Seriously. Both parties. Keep them as far away from power as possible.)

More Than an Exodus: Dropping Birth Rates Threaten California’s Future

As California’s population drops due to a mass exodus of residents escaping high taxes, exorbitant housing costs, and increasing homelessness, there’s another factor that’s been quietly contributing to the downturn: the declining birth rate.

Data shows that while the Golden State’s population continues to grow old, young adults are having fewer kids.

Who’d have thought? Decriminalising crime has consequences

In San Francisco, out of control shoplifting is driving chains out of the city

It isn’t exactly the crime of the century, but nevertheless it’s making headlines around the world.

You can see the footage here and here, but this is the gist: a man enters a Walgreens pharmacy in San Francisco, stuffs a black plastic bag full of items from the shelves, and then cycles off.

There are witnesses, including a security guard. They film the incident and the guard tries to grab the bag, but the thief gets away with it.

Dumb for all and all for Dumb! Vancouver School Board phases out honours programs in high schools

The Vancouver School Board is cutting honours courses in math and science in its high schools because the school district says they do not comply with the equity and inclusion goal of ensuring that all students can participate in every aspect of the curriculum.

The school board says teachers will instead be encouraged to teach to individual students’ capabilities, including those who excel at math and science. Honours courses in English were phased out over several years.

The “Stupid Nazis” are in charge. My bet is that whoever concocted this nonsense is innumerate.

Flying the Misogynist Skies?

Looking to recruit more women pilots, airlines push a discrimination narrative while ignoring more likely explanations for gender disparities in aviation.

United Airlines recently announced that at least 50 percent of its future pilots will be women and people of color. United’s new diversity initiative includes partnerships with major corporations such as JPMorgan Chase, which is matching United’s own $1.2 million commitment in scholarships for minority pilots. Breaking down “financial barriers” will, United CEO Scott Kirby says, “diversify our pilot ranks and create new opportunities for thousands of women and people of color who want to pursue a career in aviation.” The effort will involve recruiting 5,000 “diverse” pilots over the next ten years, which seems attainable. But the task will be more complicated, since competition to attract minorities will be intense. And it is not clear that the recruitment of one group in particular—women—will pay off.

Baltimore City Responds After Dozens Of Businesses Threaten Not To Pay Taxes

This weekend, the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) closed down multiple city streets around the Inner Harbor, in a stretch called “Fells Point,” after dozens of local businesses threatened the new city government, run by Mayor Brandon Scott, to not pay taxes because they’re “fed up and frustrated” with the outburst of violence.

Baltimore, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, LA, Detroit, they must have something in common.

San Francisco’s progressive nightmare

The city’s radical approach to criminal justice has failed its most vulnerable

In April, Synciere Williams, a baby of just nine months, was declared dead in a San Francisco emergency room with signs of trauma on his body. In January, newlywed 26-year-old Sheria Musyoka was killed on his morning jog when a drunk career criminal in a stolen 4×4 ran a red light and struck him. A few weeks before, in the middle of the day, Hanako Abe and Elizabeth Platt were killed in a hit-and-run by another criminal with a long rap sheet, also driving a stolen car and high on crystal meth.

Rock Bottom – How progressive reforms helped level a historic part of black Detroit

The United States recently marked the 100th anniversary of the 1921 Greenwood Massacre in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The newfound attention, including from the president, to the destruction of Tulsa’s “Black Wall Street” reminds us that thriving, dynamic black communities existed in America long before the War on Poverty or the civil rights legislation of the 1960s. But Greenwood was not the only African-American neighborhood that would be leveled: consider the DeSoto-Carr section of St. Louis, parts of Chicago’s Bronzeville, Cedar-Central in Cleveland—and Black Bottom in Detroit.

LEVY: Virulent anti-Israel manual sent out to TDSB teachers

An educator with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is under investigation after he allegedly sent a virulently anti-Israel manual out to teachers that suggests a documentary and a book about a terrorist, recommends children’s books that characterize Israelis as thieves and murderers, and gives advice on how to teach students about the hateful Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.

Anyone who has read this blog over the years knows that the TDSB is a cesspit. It’s not a bug it’s a feature.

In other news local Muslims and their supporters held a parade in TO yesterday.  Same old same old.

Diversity is our strength.

“Protesters” have waved signage equating Israel with Nazism, waved Hamas and Hezbollah flags since forever in Toronto.

Nothing has been or ever will be done about it.

You would think folks would have gotten used to it by now. It will only get worse.

This is the bitter harvest of “diversity and multiculturalism,” sown from the seeds planted by a monstrously stupid immigration policy.

Thank our political class for the enrichment and ignore their expressions of shock denouncing the anti-semitism on display, they’re lying, because when they see Islam they see votes. They will ignore the fact that hatred of Jews and Israel is bred in the bone of Islam.

Meanwhile across the pond.

Pro-Palestine protesters in London wave hate-filled signs calling Israel ‘the new Nazi state’, claiming ‘Netanyahu surpasses Hitler in barbarism’ and saying ‘stop doing what Hitler did to you’

MPs and campaigners have condemned pro-Palestine protesters for waving signs referring to Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust during protests against Israeli actions in the Middle East.

One man standing in Trafalgar Square yesterday held a Palestinian flag with a placard reading, ‘Stop doing what Hitler did to you’, while a poster held by a woman read, ‘Israel, the new Nazi state’.

Another sign in London referred to    ‘Holocaust Part 2’ and another – referring to Israel’s Prime Minister – read ‘Netanyahu surpasses Hitler in barbarism’.

Shootings and chaos in Portland

Shootings and chaos in Portland (with a possible connection to ‘defund the police’)

My intention today was to write about the city of Portland’s decision to start cleaning up homeless camps after a year of doing next to nothing about them during the pandemic. But as I was looking at stories about that issue I kept seeing other stories about things happening recently in the city that were pretty shocking. It’s hard not to read this stuff and get the impression the city is really just dealing with a level of chaos it hasn’t seen in decades.

Walgreens Closes 17 San Francisco Stores Due To “Out Of Control” Shoplifting

The effects of allowing chaos to prevail in Democrat-controlled cities across America might not be evident to liberals and social justice warriors now, but when businesses close up, it’s going to be very transparent then.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, 17 Walgreens Pharmacy locations have shuttered their doors in San Francisco during the past five years. At least ten of the stores in the city have closed since 2019.

‘Destroyed’: Survey finds Portland’s residents fearful of going to ‘trashed’ downtown

A number of residents in Oregon’s largest city are increasingly experiencing angst and unease about venturing downtown, saying it has become dirty, uninviting, and unsafe amid endless cycles of violence and protests, according to a newly released survey.

The poll, which was commissioned by The Oregonian/OregonLive, found that generally, Portlanders are going downtown less since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. And when asked to give their perception of the downtown area, some of the most common responses included “riots,” “sad,” “trashed,” and “destroyed,” OregonLive reported.
