It’s also hard to fathom responding to that reality — caused by a transgender mass shooter who left three 9-year-olds and several adults dead in a “targeted attack” at a Christian elementary school — by confessing you misgendered the murderer and blasting your political opponents over the same tired gun-control talking points.

But behind all the partisan smoke and mirrors of the Nashville story is an unmistakable and unavoidable reality: Our modern mental health crisis is out of control.

Trans Nashville shooter is seen firing through door of private Christian school before stalking corridors with rifle

Nashville police have released footage showing the moment a transgender 28-year-old shot down the door of a Christian school she attended as a child and began stalking the corridors, assault rifle in hand.

Audrey Hale arrived at the Covenant School in her Honda Fit just before 10am and killed six people before she was shot dead.

Hale opened fire on arriving police from the second floor of the school before she was confronted by Officer Rex Englebert, a four-year MNPD veteran, and Officer Michael Collazo, a nine-year MNPD veteran. The pair returned fire and shot her dead.

Hamburg police were tipped off about gunman but did not take his weapon

6 people shot, killed in series of shootings in Mississippi; suspect in custody

Six people were killed in a series of shootings in Mississippi Friday, police said.

Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance told CBS News that the shootings occurred in a store and two separate homes in Arkabutla, Mississippi.

One man was killed in the store, one woman was killed in one of the homes, and two people were killed in the other home.

The other two victims were killed on a nearby road.

Three dead, multiple injured in Michigan State campus shooting, suspect kills himself

Three people were killed and at least five others were injured after a gunman opened fire at Michigan State University on Monday night before turning the gun on himself, officials said.

The lone suspect, a 43-year-old not affiliated with the university, shot up two separate buildings on campus and terrified students for roughly four hours while he remained at large, police said.
