Immigration Minister warns foreign nationals to not abuse asylum system as U.S., U.K. tighten rules

Immigration Minister Lena Diab is warning foreign nationals against abusing Canada’s asylum system, as other G7 countries tighten their refugee rules.

Britain and the U.S. have recently restricted their asylum regimes, raising concerns among immigration experts that this could divert some refugee claimants to Canada.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced he is halting asylum applications, while the British government is planning to end automatic permanent residence for refugees, and would require them to reapply every two-and-a-half years to stay in the country. Britain plans to make refugees wait 20 years for permanent residence.

Canada is an easy mark and Diab is a liar.

I’ll be fine with a few less Tim Horton’s blighting the land.

For more than a year, Canadian coffee giant Tim Hortons has been pushing the federal government to lift the cap on temporary foreign workers some of its franchisees can hire, CBC News has learned.

The requests occurred over at least 18 months, in writing and in lobbying meetings with officials and MPs, as Canadian views on immigration soured and Ottawa reduced various newcomer streams.

Tim Horton’s doesn’t meet the standard of pig’s swill.

The myth of ‘jobs Americans won’t do’

Few slogans in American politics have been repeated as often—or accepted as readily—as the claim that “immigrants do the jobs Americans won’t do.” It is invoked to justify immigration policy, defend wage structures, and explain labor shortages. Yet the statement is misleading. Americans will do those jobs if survival demands it. Immigrants will avoid them if survival does not. The issue is not nationality or culture, but incentives and human nature.

The phrase suggests that American workers are lazy or entitled, unwilling to engage in hard labor, while immigrants are uniquely industrious. But history shows otherwise. Americans have long worked in agriculture, construction, hospitality, and service industries—the very jobs now said to be abandoned. What has changed is not willingness but the incentive structure.

It’s a place that doesn’t import low-skilled workers to do jobs Norwegians don’t want to do. That kind of work is mainly done by technology. The country’s fish processing industry is famously and thoroughly automated, as are places like supermarkets. “Low-wage jobs like you see in Canada literally don’t exist,” he says. “Even cashiers. The grocery store is completely self-checkout. It’s almost like there’s no employees in a lot of the stores.”

Immigration minister denies knowledge of U.S. diplomatic directive to get Canada, allies to lower immigration

Federal Immigration Minister Lena Diab says she’s unaware of a directive that was reportedly sent to the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa from the Trump administration ordering its envoy to press Canada to lower most immigration levels.

Asked if Canada takes advice from the U.S. when setting Canada’s immigration levels, Diab said she consulted for months with economists, department officials and stakeholders across the country when deciding Canada’s immigration levels going forward.

Who in their right mind would discuss immigration with the evil morons governing Canada, a nation they deliberately ruined by mass migration.

U.S. to Press Europe and Other Allies on ‘Mass Migration,’ Document Says

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has ordered American diplomats in Europe and in Canada, Australia and New Zealand to press their host governments to restrict most immigration and to file reports if the governments appear to be overly supportive of immigrants, according to a document sent to U.S. embassies and consulates.

Mr. Rubio told the diplomats to emphasize the effects of criminal acts by immigrants to encourage greater entry restrictions, according to the document, which is a diplomatic cable dated Nov. 21. The text of the cable, which was obtained by The New York Times, has not been previously reported.

Thousands of former international students’ visas will expire soon. What happens next is murky

Tens of thousands of international students who were granted postgraduate work permits will see their visas expire this year, casting doubt on their futures in Canada and leading economists to wonder if some will stay in the country as undocumented residents.

There were 31,610 people with valid postgraduate work permits in the country as of Sept. 30, and those visas will expire by Dec. 31, according to data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) provided to The Globe and Mail.

Those numbers have recently come under scrutiny by economists and immigration experts because it’s unclear how many temporary residents remain in the country after their visas expire, adding to the undocumented population.

And with Ottawa just announcing even fewer foreign students for 2026, for universities alone the impact is expected to increase from the $2.1 billion blow they are already dealing with.
The new numbers have the province’s universities now warning they “cannot cut their way out of these growing fiscal challenges.”

Rarely a week goes by without a small or large Canadian company declaring how desperate it is to hire foreign guest workers.

The country’s “labour shortage” is brutal, they say. Business survival is impossible without willing workers from offshore, complain the owners of hotels, fast-food restaurants, security firms, supermarket chains and construction companies.

Fact: Canada’s corporate class was given license by the Liberal government to flood the nation with cheap foreign labour.

Migrants’ rights groups call on Carney government to withdraw border security bill

The federal government’s border security bill is an open door to violate the rights of migrants and should be dropped, advocacy groups said on Monday on Parliament Hill.

Representatives of the Migrant Rights Network, the Canadian Council for Refugees and other groups held a news conference on Parliament Hill after failing to get on the witness lists for Commons committees studying Bill C-12.

“Bill C-12 proposes changes to nine pieces of legislation, is 70 pages long and yet has only been given three weeks of study,” said Karen Cocq, spokesperson for the Migrant Rights Network.
