Sir Tom Stoppard, the British playwright, said what others among us feel about the war between Israel and Hamas. “Before we take up a position on what’s happening now,” he cautioned, “we should consider whether this is a fight over territory or a struggle between civilisation and barbarism.”

If you doubt this is an existential struggle between civilisation and barbarism, look at this week’s reports of the bloodbath bodycam footage gathered from the Hamas terrorists who massacred more than 1,400 Israelis on October 7th.

Last Tuesday, Free Press staffers arrived for work in New York to discover antisemitic graffiti sprayed on hallway walls outside of our office. Fuck Israel and Fuck Jews, read the messages. The graffiti was found on three floors of the building as well as in the freight elevator. At the time of this writing, the police have not identified any suspects, but they are investigating it as a hate crime.

A document from the end of the 15th century features an illustration of a bearded Jew extracting the blood of a Christian child. The adjoining text explains that Jewish law requires that Passover matzoh be baked with the blood of Christian children.

Such documents were widely circulated through Europe during the Easter season and led to frequent pogroms — murder, rape, and destruction — against Jewish children, women and men in revenge for allegedly killing Christian children for their blood to make matzoh.

There was never any actual evidence of such cannibalism. In fact, Jewish law explicitly prohibits the consumption of any blood or its use in cooking.

The Jewish state is facing a “hugely complicated” seven-front war against enemies within and beyond its borders — though “virtually all Arab countries” are “quietly cheering” for Israel, according to former commander of British forces in Afghanistan Colonel Richard Kemp, who blamed President Biden for “continuously appeasing” Iran, and called for “the strongest U.S. support for Israel in this conflict,” warning that further American “weakness” could encourage hostile nations to exploit the situation.

At least 10 times since Oct. 7, President Biden has stated that the Muslim Arab terrorist group Hamas, “does not represent the Palestinian people,” or variations such as “the vast majority of Palestinians are not Hamas,” and “Hamas does not represent the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people.” Top Biden administration officials have repeated the same phrases.

But the Biden administration’s repeated statement isn’t true. In fact, Hamas overwhelmingly represents the Palestinian people.

This is the moment the Israel Defense Forces bombed a team of Hamas divers trying to infiltrate Israel after frogmen entered the sea from a Gaza tunnel.

The IDF said that at least two Hamas terrorists attempted to access Israel via the sea at Zikim – just north of the Gaza Strip – after entering a nearby beach in Gaza via a tunnel.

Footage posted by the Israeli military shows a coupe of naval vessels seeking out the target. Large explosions can then be seen in the ocean with the divers poking out just above the water.

Toronto police are investigating several hate-motivated incidents, including unknown suspects allegedly banging on the door of a Jewish home and making hateful remarks.

Police would not say where it occurred and did not provide further details about the incident.

Israel has agreed to delay the invasion of Gaza for now, so the US can rush missile defenses to the region, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing US and Israeli officials.

US military officials were trying to convince Israel against carrying out a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip in response to Hamas’s October 7 massacre, CNN reported on Wednesday citing “several sources familiar with the matter.”

The BBC, the British equivalent of the CBC, has promised to stop calling Hamas a “militant” group and refer to the rulers of the Gaza Strip as “a terrorist organization proscribed by the U.K. government.”

That’s a bit passive-aggressive. The Beeb seems to be making the change reluctantly based on the technicality that the UK government (and just about every other government in the developed world) has designated Hamas as terrorists.

Germany’s public prosecutor has launched an investigation into a suspected plan to carry out an Islamist attack, its office in Dusseldorf said on Wednesday.

An arrest warrant has been issued for the 29-year-old man, who prosecutors say allegedly agreed with a chat partner in Syria to carry out an Islamist-motivated attack on a pro-Israel demonstration.

A man was detained on Tuesday after police showed up to his apartment in the western German city of Duisburg.

Good thing they don’t coddle terrorists in Germany.
