There is something surreal, even sick about the current Gazan war.

Throughout European and American cities and campuses, tens of thousands of Middle East immigrants and students, and radical leftists chant nonstop “Free Palestine from the River to the Sea.”

More recently, they are also yelling, “Israel, you can’t hide, we caught you in genocide.”

Consider the hypocrisy of that dual messaging.

On October 21, four Moxies employees stood outside the door of their restaurant and joined anti-Israel protestors on the streets of Toronto by cheering and clapping.

The deadly Israel-Hamas war raging in the Middle East is bringing increasing volume, urgency, and bitterness to the Israeli-Palestinian debate within Canada and internationally.

One flashpoint for public anger is the nature of Hamas, the organization that launched surprise attacks on Israeli communities on Oct. 7, which brought a fierce response from Israel.

One of my partners sent me the following note this week:

“I trust that the first question that we will ask any potential new hire or student from Toronto Metropolitan University is whether or not they signed the letter condoning Hamas. They should also be advised that if they lie in response to that question it is grounds for dismissal for cause.”

Britain’s Chief Rabbi has criticised pro-Palestinian protesters for “standing alongside” extremists after Rishi Sunak said marches planned for Armistice Day were “provocative and disrespectful”.

In an article for The Times, Sir Ephraim Mirvis says it is “a stain on our common humanity that so many seem to have lost sight of the moral distance between Hamas and Israel”.

His intervention came before a fourth weekend of protests, which has raised concern that such action could trigger wider public disorder. More officers will be on duty than on previous weekends, with at least 1,600 Metropolitan Police officers and 170 drafted from other forces.

There are some things in life that are off limits and above the debate of the day – or at least they should be.

The Terry Fox statue across from Parliament Hill in Ottawa is one of those things. Yet, there it was this week, with a pro-Palestinian scarf draped around Fox’s shoulders and kids holding Palestinian flags climbing on the statue to pose for a photo.

Sermons made since terrorist group’s October 7 attack include calls to ‘destroy Israel’, ‘kill the Jews’ and ‘wage your war for Allah’

The Charity Commission is examining British mosques after they hosted pro-Hamas hate preachers, The Telegraph can disclose.

This newspaper has obtained eight sermons from figures at mosques across the country, including in London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester, all of which are linked to registered charities receiving taxpayers’ money.

The Royal Ontario Museum has reversed its decision to change a travelling art exhibit about Palestinian-Muslim funerary practices after protests that included an 18-hour sit-in by the women who created it.

The Toronto museum says it wanted to change the exhibit, Death: Life’s Greatest Mystery, because of “heightened sensitivities” over the Israel-Hamas war.

Two days before it was supposed to open, ROM officials told the four Palestinian American women behind the exhibit about certain changes they wanted to make, according to artists Sameerah Hosam Ahmad and Malak Kanan.

TEL AVIV — Some families of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip are opposed to a cease-fire or a humanitarian pause in the fighting, as was advocated by United States President Joe Biden.

And while U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a series of meetings with Israeli leaders in Tel Aviv on Friday — including the country’s full war cabinet — and pushed for a humanitarian pause nearly a month into Israel’s operations in Gaza, a number of relatives of hostages said there should be no letup or reduction in the intensity of Israel’s military campaign.

Depending on the media outlet, the Israeli Defense Forces today executed either a strike inside Gaza that landed “near” a convoy of ambulances or one that “hit” the medical convoy directly. Discerning consumers of news media are probably capable of detecting the editorial sympathies the discrepancy exposes. Nevertheless, the episode is a sign of things to come as IDF forces approach ever closer to Al-Shifa Hospital.

Just as the Israel Defense Forces encircle the Hamas stronghold of Gaza City, calls for a “ceasefire” are accelerating.

For the first week or two after the Hamas Holocaust of Oct. 7, which saw the most Jews massacred in a single day since Hitler and hundreds more taken hostage into Gaza, calls for a ceasefire were mostly relegated to far-left, self-hating “Jewish” groups such as IfNotNow and so-called Jewish Voice for Peace, along with the fifth column, jihad-sympathizing congressmen who comprise the House “Hamas Caucus,” such as Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.). In those halcyon days just a short while ago, even White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that Hamas Caucus calls for a ceasefire were “repugnant” and “disgraceful.”
