An emotional Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said the victims and their alleged killers were known to each other prior to the carnage — and the group had been taking part in burglaries before the violence exploded.

Woke Austin, Texas granted a key to the city to a radical defund the police protestor who doesn’t think anyone should be placed in jail — even murderers.

What role did money play in Barry and Honey Sherman’s deaths?

Behind the shadows – He was a pharmaceutical mogul. She was a giant in the philanthropic community. Five years after Barry and Honey Sherman’s shocking deaths, the mystery still swirls about why they died. Could it have been their money?

When media reported on Dec. 15, 2017, that Barry and Honey Sherman had been found dead in their Toronto home, it became the rare Canadian event that garnered international attention.

“Very quickly, it became a big story,” said Matthew Campbell, a Canadian reporter and editor for Bloomberg Businessweek. “There aren’t a lot of stories from Canada that go global, and there certainly aren’t a lot of stories from Canada that you get asked about at dinner parties in London and Paris, as I was over the next few months.”

#SeeItSayItIgnoreIt: Rape as “Non-Emergency”

Any migrants recently landed at Dover might be under the impression that the efficiency of our Border Force, chaperoning them to the latest stately home masquerading as an asylum centre, is indicative of the nation’s ability to get things done. Sadly, this is pretty much the extent of our public services: welcome to Britain, where nothing actually works. Not only is the UK’s public sector bloated out of all proportion, but its workers are also the least likely to show up in the morning (unless you count standing on the picket lines). If it’s not teachers, BBC journalists, university lecturers, or civil servants, it’s junior doctors going on strike—no wonder Ukrainian refugees are going home for treatment, rather than face the war zone of the NHS.

U.S. Should Set an Example to Combat Global Embezzlement

It remains unclear why Western governments are so reluctant to return ill-gotten funds to governments that badly need money for social and economic development.

Saudi Arabia and the Gulf monarchies exploring their geopolitical options with China has a dimension that the Washington debate has neglected: the kings, dictators, and their relatives across the world have accumulated hundreds of billions of dollars through the “privatization” of national budgets and/or what is known as “state capture,” where public service becomes the most profitable kind of business.

In the 1990s, authoritarian rulers like Presidents Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire or Suharto of Indonesia were accused of stealing not less than $5 billion and $20 billion respectively, sums that were never recovered. In the Mobutu case, Swiss authorities found only several million dollars in accounts that were returned to Mobutu’s family in 2009, while Suharto’s family was ordered to repay just $324 million more than fifteen years after he abdicated from the presidency.

Shattered: Catholic community confronts its founder’s lies

ROCCA DI PAPA, Italy (AP) — The findings of an initial expert report were astonishing: One of the 20th century’s revered Catholic leaders, who built an international movement of community care for people with intellectual disabilities, perverted Catholic doctrine about Jesus and Mary to justify his own sexual compulsions and abuse women.

The findings of a second report were even worse: The movement he created had at its core a secret, mystical-sexual “sect,” and was founded for the precise purpose of hiding the sect’s deviant activities from church authorities.

US charges Sam Bankman-Fried with bribing Chinese officials

The US has accused former FTX chief executive Sam Bankman-Fried of paying a $40mn bribe to one or more Chinese government officials in a revised indictment filed in federal court in Manhattan on Tuesday.

Prosecutors allege Bankman-Fried sent the bribe in cryptocurrency to Chinese officials in order to regain access to trading accounts that had been frozen by law enforcement in the country. The accounts were linked to Alameda Research, FTX’s sister company.

The new bribery charge was added to twelve counts already faced by the former FTX chief, whose exchange collapsed in November last year after it was unable to meet a wave of withdrawal demands from customers.

Maybe wonderboy will do serious time. Maybe.
