The woman at the centre of the sexual assault trial for five former players with Canada’s world junior hockey team finished a marathon nine days of testimony this week in London, Ont. — before a sudden turn in the proceedings.

The accused men are Dillon Dubé, Cal Foote, Alex Formenton, Carter Hart and Michael McLeod, who’ve all pleaded not guilty. E.M., whose identity is protected under a standard publication ban, gave her account of the alleged assaults and answered hundreds of questions from the men’s lawyers. 

Two weeks after two young siblings vanished without a trace in rural Nova Scotia, experts are pointing to anomalies in what they say is an unprecedented case that deviates from a typical missing children investigation.

Five boys are facing charges after two students were stabbed at a bus stop outside of a Scarborough high school on Monday afternoon, police say.

Police responded to reports of the double stabbing near Guildwood Parkway and Livingston Road just before 1:50 p.m. on Monday.

One of the girls found guilty of manslaughter in the swarming death of Kenneth Lee confessed to participating in the brutal attack in a voice note she left for a friend on an MP3 player that had been provided to her in youth jail.

The recording was first played in court during a bail hearing for that girl and again during a preliminary hearing for all eight of the accused.

The six-minute audio clip, along with many other details in the case, has been under a publication ban pending trials for several of the girls, including some who were set to face a jury.

More than two months after she promised to release the Jeffrey Epstein files, Attorney General Pam Bondi explained this week that the sheer volume of pornographic material being reviewed is delaying the process.

Shoppers Drug Mart billed almost $62 million to the provincial government for medication reviews over a 14-month period, data obtained by the Star shows, raising concerns the pharmacy chain is abusing the Ontario Drug Benefit program and providing little benefit to patients.
