Let’s try a thought experiment: A public school board votes for a policy that bans a certain group of people — say, teachers who are LGBTQ+ — from teaching in its school system because, it fears, one or more of those teachers might make students feel uncomfortable.
Pope Francis spoke out against gender theory in a recent interview, echoing his past comments expressing disapproval of transgender ideology.
“Gender ideology, today, is one of the most dangerous ideological colonizations,” Francis said in the conversation.
The pope made the comments in a March 10 interview with Argentinian newspaper La Nación — the conversation was translated into English by the Catholic News Agency.
“Why is it dangerous?” he continued. “Because it blurs differences and the value of men and women.”
According to Hope Not Hate, standing up for women’s rights makes you a dangerous extremist.
Say ‘far-right extremism’ and most people will think of fascism. Perhaps Hitler, Nazis and swastikas. Or closer to home, it’s Enoch Powell and his infamous ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech. Or the National Front of the 1970s. Far less likely to spring to mind are feminists defending women’s rights. Or concerned parents who object to the sexualisation of children and to libraries hosting drag queens.
The B-52s, the kitschy 1970s-80s rockers famous for their off-beat tune “Love Shack,” decried the various bills and laws across the country that they say “promote transphobia,” by banning transgender mutilation of children and drag shows aimed at children.

An Alberta city councillor who posted a meme with an anti-Christian theme on social media has publicly apologized as a city resident says the meme was a “personal attack” against him for objecting to an upcoming event that advertises a drag artist as the main feature.
As a result of the post and circumstances leading up to it, the resident Leighton Grey says city councillor Chris Vining, who is also a school principal, violated the codes of conduct for city councillors and educators. Vining, for his part, says he has received harassing emails and calls and that he and his family now feel unsafe in their home.

Daniel Eastwood was jailed at Dumfries Young Offenders Institution for dangerous driving at age 18 and was a month away from the end of his sentence when he strangled cellmate Paul Algie, 22, to death with shoelaces in 2004.
