How could that be, the 16-year-old Toronto high school student remembers thinking. The boy with the photos was a close friend, someone she trusted. And besides, she thought, she had never sent a nude to anyone.
An audit of the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) has found that its vessels are aging, with some surpassing their expected lifespans, costing the agency nearly one-third of a billion dollars to maintain them in the 2022–23 fiscal year.
“The CCG fleet is aging as vessels approach and exceed their intended end of service life,” said auditors in a July report, “Evaluation of Fleet Procurement and Maintenance,” released to the public on Dec. 18.
The audit spanned across 124 active vessels. It was conducted by the evaluation division at Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the CCG from April to November 2023.

A Louisiana woman with the first severe case of bird flu in the US had a mutated form of the disease that may make it more infectious to humans.

The 2024 presidential election dragged on for what seemed like forever and was certainly a rollercoaster of emotions for Democrats. During all that time, the liberal ladies of ABC’s The View had made several proclamations and predictions about the state of the race that didn’t age as well as they hoped.

The Morrison Hotel, the famous backdrop for The Doors’ 1970 album named after it, was destroyed by a huge fire Thursday while being occupied by dozens of homeless squatters.
Almost 100 firefighters worked for at least two hours from 11 a.m. to control the fire at the downtown Los Angeles hotel best known for being on the cover of the legendary rock album.
The blaze destroyed the roof of the building now red-tagged as being unlivable.

A popular restaurant in California’s Bay Area is shutting its doors after settling a costly discrimination lawsuit — over its ‘Ladies Night’ promotion.
Lima Restaurant — a family-run Peruvian eatery in Concord, Calif., about 20 miles outside of Oakland — told patrons it will serve its final meal on New Year’s Eve because of the gender discrimination lawsuit.
Chef/owner John Marquez said the lawsuit, filed last year, has cost his restaurant tens of thousands of dollars — putting a major dent in the business’ cash flow.
