Trump Derangement Syndrome

His new book should be labeled as an in-kind campaign contribution to the Harris–Walz candidacy.

Just in time for the 2024 presidential election, Watergate profiteer Bob Woodward and Simon & Schuster released Woodward’s latest book, War, which is a defense of the Biden administration’s national security policies and effectively a campaign contribution to Kamala Harris. The anti-Trump press is already promoting the book as a warning against a second Trump administration. Bob Woodward has apparently stepped forward to save the nation from Trump, just as, according to Washington, D.C., legend, he did in the early 1970s to save the nation from Richard Nixon.

You hear it from the Dems and the corrupt media all the time: MAGA white supremacists are out there daily, like boogeymen, waiting in the shadows to commit unspeakable violence on women, minorities, perhaps your pets—anything you can think of. Yet it was leftists who in 2020 rioted across the country and destroyed at least a billion dollars in property and caused the deaths of at least 25 Americans.

Here I thought we were done with my four-year series, Misadventures in Lawfare, at least until after the election.

After all, Jack Smith is stuck in the mud, his book-length description of former President Trump’s J6 infamia having enraged only the already-enraged, and his Mar-a-Lago documents prosecution in appellate suspension. Alvin Bragg’s case was such a joke that Democrats tend to restrict their “convicted felon” Trump banter to conversations among themselves, lest they remind the country of the underlying travesty — and Bragg couldn’t even get Trump formally convicted and sentenced owing to his own malpractice in ignoring the immunity issue. (Trump’s lawyers filed a brief in the Second Circuit on Monday, trying yet again to get Bragg’s case removed to federal court.) On the civil side, a New York appellate court seems poised at least to gut, if not to toss entirely, the half-billion-dollar damages award imposed by Arthur Engoron, an elected club Democrat in a robe, in Trump-deranged AG Tish James’s fraud case with no fraud victims.

A recent report shows that the assassination attempts on President Donald Trump were facilitated by unacceptable misconduct and unprofessional behavior by employees of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the United States Secret Service (USSS) stemming from deep-seated politicization within these agencies.

The increasing politicization of the U.S. government and its institutions has become a pressing concern in many media. Conservative pundits have been sounding the alarm about that issue since at least 2016, when the FBI plot against Donald Trump was initially dismissed as a conspiracy theory. Now, after it became clear that the Democrat party has weaponized the Department of Justice to destroy Trump’s presidential campaign, it turned out the “conspirators” were telling nothing but truth.

Earlier this year, we suggested that the fevered fearmongering of an MSNBC panel brought the mind the Rolling Stones song “Gimme Shelter.”

After the rancid rabble-rousing of today’s Morning Joe, perhaps, in the run-up to the election, the song should become the official anthem of the liberal media.

No longer fringe, the beliefs of the left now require purifying violence against the total threat of “MAGA Americans,” whom they dismiss as enemies against whom all manner of violence is permitted.

They say history repeats itself—first as tragedy, and the second time as farce. This aphorism certainly seems true of the two assassination attempts against former President Trump. The young Thomas Crooks’ shooting at a Pennsylvania rally in July nearly succeeded. He actually wounded Trump, and unfortunately killed a local fireman.

By contrast, Ryan Routh’s attempted attack at Trump’s Mar a Lago golf course was shambolic. His pawn shop SKS looked incapable of hitting the broadside of a barn, and his sniper’s nest did everything possible to make itself visible. Like Routh himself, it was all quite ridiculous.

You might think that an attempt to shoot the president – okay, the former president and likely the next one, but you know what I mean – would be a big deal. And you might think that two attempts to shoot him in the space of a couple of months might be an even bigger deal. But you would be wrong. They are no deal at all, and that’s not a good thing. Not at all.

We are on a very scary path, and it’s unclear that there is a turn-off we can take that brings us someplace good.
