PLYMOUTH, Mass. – A judge is set to declare a mistrial in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial Friday on the seventh day of deliberations — but gave her defiant lawyer just one hour to file an emergency appeal against the ruling.
The 12-person jury – made up of nine women and three men – told Judge William Sullivan that they could not agree on whether to convict Clancy, 36, of three counts of first-degree murder.

Brandon Price, recently promoted from detective sergeant to inspector, left homicide earlier in 2026 and has moved to the force’s intelligence unit, police have confirmed. Price is “overseeing investigations that relate to the Intelligence Unit,” said Toronto police spokesperson Nadine Ramadan.

The headlines look away from the actual victims in the case: the three helpless children who were strangled to death in early 2023. All the sympathetic emphasis is on their mother, portrayed as a tragic figure allegedly “failed” by others and not morally responsible for her horrific act.

A record seizure in northwest Edmonton should have prompted more than a discussion about unpaid tobacco taxes. Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) investigators, supported by Edmonton police, seized nearly 158,000 cartons containing more than 31.6 million illegal cigarettes from a commercial property in June.
The shipment was valued at more than $29 million and represented an estimated $9.4 million in avoided provincial taxes, and is the largest contraband tobacco seizure in AGLC history.

Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw says that two 18-year-old males have been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at Salsa on St. Clair last month.
He says that both are charged with 37 offences, including two counts of first-degree murder and five counts of attempted murder.
Shaquan Quashie, 25, and Cesar Vernaza, 20, were killed and multiple others were injured following an exchange of gunfire in the middle of the festival on July 11.
