‘Islamist bomb threats from outside the UK’ close schools across Scotland and Northern Ireland

Police later admitted they were bored and called in the threats themselves.

Hundreds of schools across Northern Ireland and Scotland have closed after receiving a bomb threat.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said ‘up to 300’ institutions were emailed the threat – which is believed to be a hoax – adding it came from outside the UK.

Paul Givan, Stormont’s education minister, said the warning was signed ‘Allahu Akbar’ but was not understood to be viable.
