A top European Union court ruled in favor of Ikea on Tuesday in a challenge brought by the company against Belgian far-right and Flemish separatist party Vlaams Belang.
The popular Swedish brand may prevent the Belgian party from using its signature illustrations. Vlaams Belang launched the “Ikea Plan” in 2022, a proposal to reform the country’s migration and asylum laws.
The plan included images similar to Ikea’s furniture assembly instructions. Ikea filed a legal complaint in 2023, accusing the far-right party of unlawfully using its branding.
