If the first rule of ransoms is that you don’t pay them, what to make of Mark Carney’s payoff to Donald Trump to open the Gordie Howe International Bridge?
Make no mistake: Canada paid what amounts to a bribe. The Liberal government can dress it up as a “series of co-operative measures” regarding the governance of the new border crossing, but Trump came into our shop, threatened to smash it up, and didn’t leave until he got his money. Instead of telling Don Trump where to go, Carney paid the vigorish.
