Canadian Armed Forces members used their own personal social media accounts, computers and networks at home during the COVID-19 pandemic and gathered information about Canadians, violating intelligence-gathering rules, according to a newly released report.

The internal military report obtained by CBC News provides a new look behind the scenes at how a controversial military operation went so wrong.

“Everything you could imagine in a military operation went wrong in this case,” said national security expert Wesley Wark.

Shortly after a court concluded Premier Doug Ford was using his personal phone to conduct government business and ruled some of those records should be public, the province moved to change access to information laws.

Last week, “Transgender Day of Visibility,” was observed by the Royal Canadian Navy, or the East Coast Navy, on Canadian Forces Base (CFB) in Halifax — Canada’s largest military base in terms of population.

The pair, who were staying at the Hampton Inn near the South Loop, were woken up early on Sunday morning after youths gathered at an intersection and began drifting in circles.

As traffic backed up on either side of the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Cermak Road, a large group was seen crowding three cars spinning in the intersection.

What followed in the hours after was chaos. Hundreds of young people came to the “link-up” last Saturday, and then gathered on Clapham High Street.

Shops in the area were overwhelmed, including a Marks & Spencer where videos appear to show teenagers fighting in the aisles. Some shopkeepers reportedly locked their doors, and fireworks were let off on Clapham Common.
