Nothing might change — except the politics of the 2024 presidential campaign.

In the coming weeks, there is a very real possibility that the federal district court in Florida will rule that Attorney General Merrick Garland’s appointment of Jack Smith as a special counsel (SC) violated the Constitution’s appointments clause (art. II, §2, cl.2).

If Judge Aileen Cannon, the Trump-appointee who is presiding over Smith’s illegal document-retention prosecution against former president Trump, were to make such a ruling, would the Biden Justice Department have to start the case over from scratch? Perhaps, but I think that’s unlikely.

CNN cut the microphone of Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt on Monday after she correctly pointed out the network’s debate moderators’ long history of anti-Trump bias — proving the former president’s biggest opponent during the Thursday presidential debate isn’t President Joe Biden, but the media.

CNN’s Kasie Hunt first asked Leavitt “what Donald Trump is going to do differently on the debate stage,” before asking Leavitt what she expects from Biden.

Watch out for shenanigans on Thursday night from CNN’s debate moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash! Both Donald Trump and Joe Biden — by rule — can have their microphones muted if they go over time.

But who can mute Tapper and Bash when they talk over Trump and hit him with unfair and slanted questions?

Donald Trump has proposed that migrants should take on Americans in a cage-fighting tournament.

The former president floated the idea in a speech to Christian conservatives and again at a rally in Philadelphia on Saturday night.

In remarks described as “unhinged” by Democrats, the 78-year-old Republican presidential nominee recalled a conversation he had with his friend Dana White, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, while addressing the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road To Majority conference in Washington.

In 1994, practically at the dawn of the internet, Snopes was a fun site that saw two married socialists debunk pervasive urban legends about razors in Halloween candy and hooked hands stuck to car door handles. During the Obama years, it turned into a Democrat mouthpiece that masqueraded as a fact-checking site. That Democrat fealty explains why it’s taken the site seven years to debunk the “very fine people” hoax that painted Trump as a white supremacist and that Joe Biden used to open his 2020 campaign.

There is no way to evaluate the total damage inflicted on Trump’s candidacy by Bragg’s prosecution until we learn what Judge Merchan will do.

I’ve been surprised at the punditry about the fallout of Trump’s convictions in the Manhattan criminal trial. It made sense to say that we’d needed to wait for a couple of weeks to get a reliable read on how the public was processing the jury’s guilty verdicts. That is, rose-tinted pronouncements by Trump enthusiasts that the convictions had no meaningful effect on the race — or even that the former president’s 2024 bid was somehow helped by his status as a convicted felon because it showed that Democrats had overplayed their lawfare hand — were daft.

I don’t think so. Or let me at least put it this way: I think those who look at the calendar, look at the negative reaction in much of the country to Alvin Bragg’s patently politicized prosecution of Trump, and pronounce lawfare at an end are overconfident.

The limits and liberties with respect to President Trump’s speech in South Florida are emerging as the next contest between the 45th president and Special Counsel Jack Smith.

Judge Aileen Cannon could soon decide whether to deny or grant Mr. Smith’s motion to amend the terms of Trump’s release to bar him from criticizing law enforcement. That is the request from the special counsel. Trump maintains that such an order would violate his constitutional rights.

However much you hate the media, it’s not enough. The latest reminder comes courtesy of The Washington Post.

On Friday, Donald Trump’s birthday, the Post ran a predictable — but nonetheless despicable — piece of 2024 election propaganda titled, “Donald Trump, potential future oldest president, turns 78.”

“Age is just a number, the adage goes. For Donald Trump, that number just got bigger,” writes national political “reporter” Marianne LeVine, who adds that Trump’s age “has also drawn notice from some voters and experts on aging.”

Reflecting their typical disdain for intellectual diversity, discordant Dems are shrilling against MAGA. Despite the fifty-state movement attracting increasing numbers of converts, despondent Dems desperately label it a cult. They even assert that its members need to be deprogrammed.

According to internal documents, FBI officials, as part of a confidential security clearance assessment for a longtime employee, probed into the individual’s political inclinations, stance on COVID-19 vaccination, and participation in Second Amendment gatherings. The internal memo triggered a complaint to the Justice Department’s internal oversight body.

Crazed MSNBC analyst Donny Deutsch recently urged the U.S. military to release an ad campaign against former President Donald Trump ahead of the upcoming presidential election.

True story, as Joe Biden might say.
