Donald Trump has agreed to be interviewed by the FBI in its investigation of his attempted assassination, as it emerged a sniper spotted the gunman more than 90 minutes before the shooting.

The former president suffered an injury to the ear when Thomas Crooks opened fire from a rooftop at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

Special agent Kevin Rojek, who is in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office, confirmed on Monday that Trump would participate in a “standard victim interview”.

They must want a second shot at him.

Several commentators have compared the recent assassination attempt on candidate and former president Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, to the attempted assassination of candidate and former president Theodore Roosevelt in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during the 1912 presidential election campaign. Trump was shot by a 20-year-old man in his right ear while giving a speech at a campaign rally just a few days before he was scheduled to accept the Republican Party’s nomination for president in Milwaukee. Roosevelt, who was running as the Progressive Party (or Bull Moose Party) candidate, was shot in the chest while acknowledging a crowd of supporters on his way to give a campaign speech in Milwaukee by a 36-year-old German-American bar owner named John Schrank. Trump’s would-be assassin was killed by a Secret Service sniper. Schrank was arrested, pleaded guilty, determined to be insane, and committed to hospitals for the criminally insane. He died in one of them in 1943.

Former President Donald Trump plans to stop holding outdoor rallies like the one where he was shot during an assassination attempt this month in Butler, Pennsylvania, according to two sources familiar with his campaign’s operations.

The sources said current plans are to hold indoor rallies, but they also said it’s possible Trump will participate in smaller outdoor events or larger rallies in facilities where entrances are more fully controlled and there are not issues with high ground nearby, like stadiums.
