Nolte: Disastrous Diversity Officer Out at Disney

Disney’s Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, Latondra Newton is, exiting the grooming company, per various news reports.

Newton has led the grooming outfit’s diversity, equity, and inclusion programs for six disastrous years. In a Tuesday memo, Disney’s chief human resources officer, Sonia Coleman, told the Disney staff that Newton decided to leave to “pursue other endeavors.” The far-left Deadline reports that Newton is moving on to destroy her own company: “We hear that she plans to join a corporate board and focus on a creative company she owns.” Please do put identity over merit at your own company, Latrondra, so we can watch that crash and burn like Disney.

The Oscars’ diversity quotas are dumb

It ill behoves Hollywood — the most venal and exploitative workplace ever invented — to tell the rest of us how to behave

Is anyone actually watching the Oscars anymore? Until “The Incident” between Messrs Smith and Rock last year the direction of travel was clear. Between 2014 and 2020 the televised Academy Awards lost almost half their viewers, the number falling from 43 to 23 million. This year, in March, they were at 18 million with punters only tuning in perhaps to see some bitch-slapping between Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep.

Nolte: Woke Went Gloriously Broke at This Weekend‘s Box Office

Grooming Disney’s Elemental, Mr. They/Them’s The Flash, and the gay, Black Lives Matter-inspired The Blackness all tanked at the box office, to which I can only say, God Bless America.

All three of these flops, the latest products of Hollywood’s Woke Reich, debuted on Friday, and all three bombed both at home and abroad. In fact, all three came in well below even their most pessimistic projections.

Oscars voters rip into ‘ridiculous’ new diversity rules for Best Picture

If it were released today, “The Godfather” would possibly have no chance of winning a Best Picture Oscar.

That’s because the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is beholden to new inclusivity standards.

Starting with the March 2024 awards, movies will not be considered for a Best Picture nomination unless they feature a lead or significant supporting character from an “underrepresented racial or ethnic group,” have a main storyline that focuses on an underrepresented group, or at least 30% of the cast comes from two or more underrepresented groups (women, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ or the disabled).

Disney’s Little Mermaid flops in China amid racist backlash over casting

McDonald’s in China apologizes for sign banning black people amid coronavirus

The poor performance of Disney’s The Little Mermaid at the Chinese box office has reopened questions on Hollywood’s increasing difficulties in the world’s second-largest economy and the role racism has played in the film’s reception.

The live action remake has grossed just $3.6m (£2.9m) since its release in Chinese cinemas on 26 May, according to Box Office Mojo.

The Little Mermaid is Disney propaganda

Guilt-ridden millennials are its target audience

One of the musical highlights of the original, animated Little Mermaid is a scene in which Ariel, newly human, tries to get Prince Eric to kiss her. If he doesn’t, she’ll turn back into a mermaid, but because Ariel has lost her voice, her main job is to sit there looking available; the actual seduction is stage-managed by her crab friend Sebastian, who sings encouragement into Eric’s ear …

Left-wing Celebs dodged millions in L.A.’s ‘mansion tax.’ Meet the industry guarding their wealth

Before Measure ULA took effect in April, some wealthy residents scrambled to avoid paying the new “mansion tax” that would fund affordable housing and homelessness prevention. Even celebrities known for their liberal ideals and humanitarian crusades happened to sell, for whatever reason, right before the tax went into effect.

As the mad dash became public, there was one question on many people’s minds. Why?

Disney blasted for allowing mustachioed employee to wear dress, makeup, told little kid he was going to shop her around

A little less than magical.

Conservative critics are once again slamming Disney for shoving “woke” agendas down the throats of children — this time by allowing an apparently male employee to wear a costume dress and makeup.

A viral video — that’s racked up nearly 7 million views on TikTok — shows the mustachioed Fairy Godmother’s Apprentice welcoming a young girl at Disneyland’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Anaheim, California.

“I’m here to shop you around and make all your selections for the day.”

Disney is a deviant freakshow.

‘The Little Mermaid’: What the Media Isn’t Telling You About the Film’s Box Office Performance

From the moment the public learned Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid would race-swap the title character Ariel, the film has been the subject of both controversy and excessive praise. Disney’s live-action remakes have consistently adjusted the original material to appeal to current sensibilities and to make casting less white and the content more woke. Naturally, Disney purists who cherish the classic 1989 animated film and wanted a more faithful adaptation of the story were a bit perturbed. While there’s no doubt that Halle Bailey, the actress playing Ariel, is extremely talented, it was a puzzling move for a story based on a fairy tale by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen.

Nolte: Tired Franchise Films Turn Moviegoing into Rerun Season

Just the other day, I realized I no longer care about film franchises.

And you are talking to someone who was a big fan of the Fast and the Furious, Iron Man, Star Wars, James Bond, Batman, Superman, Mission: Impossible, Indiana Jones, Transformers, Toy Story, Star Trek, Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean, X-Men, Terminator, Planet of the Apes, The Conjuring…I am no snob. But now…?

Never mind AI, the streaming services are already destroying themselves

There is much concern about the frightening advance of AI. In Los Angeles, members of the Writers Guild of America which represents 11,000 writers have entered their fourth week of strikes. They are demanding, among other things, higher pay, and crucially, that the studios guarantee they won’t slice into writers royalty payments by crediting AI tools such as ChatGPT on scripts.

There is indeed a real threat of screenwriters’ jobs becoming redundant as AI advances. Yet the streaming services who employ writers are far more likely to self-sabotage long before AI becomes sophisticated enough to produce television and film scripts worthy of being made.

Disney Layoffs Go Global as Additional 2,500 U.S. Workers Eliminated This Week

The Walt Disney Co. has reportedly begun laying off personnel overseas as it continues to eliminate jobs at home, with an additional 2,500 U.S. workers receiving pink slips this week.

Disney began notifying around 100 overseas workers this week that their jobs are at risk of elimination, according to a Deadline report. The staff are based in London and across the EMEA region — or Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The number of impacted workers is expected to be proportionate to the number of U.S. layoffs.
