Media, Democrats Show Their Bias on Israel

The news coming out of Israel this weekend has been undeniably brutal. At least 900 Israelis were killed and thousands more injured when Hamas terrorists rampaged through communities along Israel’s border with Gaza, raping and torturing civilians and abducting women, children, and elderly people.

The Biden administration’s former special envoy to Iran, who was placed on leave earlier this year for allegedly mishandling classified material, should face “extensive scrutiny” for his “permissive” stance toward the Tehran regime after it aided Hamas and Hezbollah in carrying out terrorist attacks against Israel, critics said Monday.

“Rob Malley deserves extensive scrutiny — yesterday, today and tomorrow,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) told The Post after the Wall Street Journal reported officers of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps planned and signed off on this weekend’s atrocity that killed at least 900.

This is a huge scandal.

In light of Hamas’ monstrous attack on Israel, which is often called its 9/11, the most horrific massacre of civilians since Israel’s founding, the brutal terror group actually has its defenders in the West. They have crawled out of the woodwork and made themselves known. It’s not just rogue-state leaders, though they are loud and proud for the killers. It’s the global left, which instead of taking the side of peace, rule of law, and civilization, has shown us what they are really about by taking the side of the barbarians.

I can’t believe the insanity I am seeing, just on Twitter alone.

I thought I got used the perennial cycle of violence that afflicts the Middle East. But after Hamas’ assault on Israel I realise that it is only now that we are truly confronted with the sight of a morally decadent mode of warfare haunting the region.

There will be a lot of discussion and debate on the causes of the current war in Israel. Fingers will be pointed in all kinds of directions and all the different parties will blame each other and seek to excuse their behaviour. No doubt there were times over the years when individual fighters on all sides behaved badly. However, the barbaric behaviour of Hamas is qualitatively different to the normal violence that the different sides inflict on one another.

When Hamas launched its latest jihad war against Israel, the Biden regime’s initial response was mind-numbingly predictable. At 2:58AM on Saturday, the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs tweeted in Arabic: “The US Embassy is closely monitoring the security situation as a result of rockets being fired from Gaza through southern and central Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and the infiltration of Hamas activists.” Yeah, “activists” with balaclavas and rifles, committing murder wherever they had the chance.

A distressing video has emerged from Israel that shows a family being held hostage reportedly by armed members of the Hamas group. Shockingly, it has been reported that one of the girls from the family was executed in the presence of her siblings. Israel-based journalist Hananya Naftali shared this alarming information on X, formerly known as Twitter.

This is beyond a sick act of cruelty.

Colonel Roy Levy, 44, is among dozens of soldiers confirmed dead

Colonel Roy Levy – a legendary Israeli soldier from its elite Ghost unit – was killed during Hamas’s attack on Saturday, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has confirmed.

‌The 44-year-old from Shavei Tzion is one of dozens of soldiers now confirmed dead.

“The IDF shares in the family’s grief,” the IDF said in a statement.

Was October 7 – the day Hamas invaded southern Israel and killed over 600 Israelis, wounded over 2,000, and kidnapped an unknown number at least in the dozens – the worst Israeli intelligence failure in history?

Probably looking back historians will still flag the 1973 Yom Kippur War as much worse because there were more deaths and because the state’s very existence was far more in danger.

But the IDF of 2023 is far more powerful than the IDF of 1973 and Hamas today is far weaker than Egypt and Syria were 50 years ago, so the issue is debatable.

Since 7 a.m. Saturday, when I was jolted awake with the news that Israel was at war, I have slept six hours. And I needed a pill for that. Make that two.

Everything is a blur of mounting horror. It is humanly impossible to absorb the scope of grotesque Hamas barbarism. I am in Canada and was meant to fly back to Tel Aviv on Wednesday. That won’t be happening.

“Victim blaming” is one of the sins that is most deplored by the social justice movement. When it comes to the Jews, however, different rules seem to apply, at least when it comes to rape, murder and mutilation.

The events of the past few days could not have been more clear-cut. This was an unprovoked assault by Islamist fanatics who rampaged across southern Israel, reveling in savagery against the innocent. The atrocities you have seen on television have been the tip of the iceberg. Women have been butchered, their bodies paraded and desecrated, while grandmothers have been kidnapped with their carers and executed. Families have been gunned down in bomb shelters. Babies and children have been dragged away into captivity in Gaza. There has been at least one apparent beheading. Israeli forces were caught napping. Yet the tone of some of the coverage has suggested that the Jews deserved it.

A noticeable disparity often exists between the media’s portrayal of Palestinian terrorist organizations and the actions of the terrorists themselves. Nowhere has this phenomenon been more evident than in Israel’s longstanding war with Hamas, the U.S.-designated terrorist group ruling the Gaza Strip. However, in the wake of Hamas’s executing the deadliest attack in Israel’s history on Saturday, October 7, and Israel’s subsequent announcement of a full-scale war, this facade is finally beginning to unravel. In order to hasten the process, it’s worth understanding how these distorted narratives are perpetuated in the first place.

The first inkling Yoni Asher had that his family were inside Gaza was by tracking his wife’s mobile phone.

His wife Doron and their two children Raz, 5, and Aviv, 3, were staying with relatives close to the border with Gaza when the militants struck.

Yoni told the BBC: “Saturday, around 10:30 in the morning, was the last call when I spoke with my wife. She told me that terrorists from Hamas had entered the house.

I’ve spent the last 12 hours speaking to Israelis who were at the Supernova music festival. Their testimonies, as you would imagine, are very emotional. At least one broke down mid-conversation and wasn’t able to continue his recollection.

The attack on the festival outside of Re’im began around 7 a.m. The party was at its peak by then—which meant that by then most people were inebriated. At first, partygoers heard a loud explosion, which they took to be another sporadic rocket attack on southern Israel. But then the explosions grew louder and constant, and kept going for about five minutes. The music stopped, and the police protecting the 4,000 or 5,000 ravers began pushing everyone to leave.

By then, the terrorists were approaching in pickup trucks bearing Hamas military markings.
