For more than a year after the onset of the pandemic, talking about the possibility that the virus might have been lab-engineered was taboo. Then, as the evidence continued to mount, it suddenly became acceptable to talk about it in “respectable” circles. Today, however, we appear to have gone full-circle: a determined effort is once again underway to dismiss the lab-leak theory for good — even though no new evidence has emerged to disprove it.

“It’s devastating,” said Anna Pierce, vice president of Niagara Helicopters, which offers rides over the falls.

Pierce says bookings are down 35 per cent this summer compared to the summer of 2019, largely due to the lack of American tourists.

Universities mandating masks on campus at this point is silly and mandating vaccine boosters is unethical. Here’s why: Imagine a hypothetic group of five students, discussing the recent mask and booster mandate introduced at Ontario’s Western University.

THE mystery of excess deaths first came to light in January this year when a large US insurance company reported it was seeing ‘the highest death rates we have seen in the history of this business’. Furthermore it was not the elderly who were dying but ‘primarily working-age people 18 to 64’. In March one of Germany’s largest statutory health insurance companies, BKK, reported frequency of vaccination complications seven times higher than indicated by the German regulatory body, the Paul Ehrlich Institute.

Have you ever heard of seven doctors dead in a 14-day period (from July 13 through July 28)? How about five dead doctors in a few days, in one city (Toronto)? How about 14 dead doctors in the past nine months? And these dead doctors were mostly YOUNG.

Do these headlines catch your attention? Because they’re all true. Confirmed. Fact. It all just happened in Canada, a small country of 30 million (one-tenth the size of America).

When the original strain of COVID-19 arrived in spring 2020, a pandemic soon swept the country.

By far most survived COVID. But hundreds of thousands did not. American deaths now number well over 1 million.

Amid the tragedy, there initially was some hope that the pernicious effects of the disease would all disappear upon recovery among the nearly 99% who survived the initial infection.

NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Coast Guard Academy is disenrolling seven cadets for failing to comply with the military’s COVID-19 vaccination mandate, after their requests for religious exemptions were denied and they were ordered to leave campus.

The academy in New London, Connecticut, confirmed the disenrollments Tuesday, The Day newspaper reported. A lawyer for several of the cadets said they were told on Aug. 18 that they had to leave campus by 4 p.m. the next day.

University students, many of whom sacrificed two of the most formative years of their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, are now making up for lost time. The return to school plan adopted by Western University in London, Ont., which includes mandated booster shots and mandatory masking, came from a good place, but does not fit the reality we live in. These measures are concerning because there is the potential for harms with only marginal benefits.

Lockdown was an extreme and unprecedented response to an ancient problem, the challenge of epidemic disease. It was also something else. It marked one of the gravest governmental failures of modern times. In a remarkably candid interview with The Spectator, Rishi Sunak has blown the gaff on the sheer superficiality of the decision-making process of which he was himself part. The fundamental rule of good government is not to make radical decisions without understanding the likely consequences. It seems obvious. Yet it is at that most basic level that the Johnson government failed. The tragedy is that this is only now being acknowledged.

In a decision that could set a precedent for other disputes over workplace vaccine mandates, a labour arbitrator has handed a victory to more than a dozen firefighters who were fired by the city of Toronto early this year after failing to get the COVID-19 vaccine or disclose their vaccination status.

The arbitrator ruled that Toronto’s mandatory vaccination policy for firefighters was and still is reasonable and said it is supported by expert evidence that demonstrated the safety and efficacy of vaccines the city required its employees to accept.

A Ford government appointee who openly questioned the province’s pandemic policies and called the education minister “incompetent” has resigned his post as an advisor to Premier Doug Ford.

Jamil Jivani was appointed as Ontario’s first community opportunities advocate in 2019, a newly created position that came with a $500 per diem and could pay as much as $72,000 a year.

An independent group of volunteer scientists and public health experts who have advised the Ford government on the response to the COVID-19 pandemic since July 2020 has been informed that it will be dissolved as of next month.
