Hunter Biden fled last week to South Africa for a luxury vacation — with round-the-clock Secret Service protection — avoiding a grueling deposition scheduled for this week in a California lawsuit.
California District Court Judge Herman Vera granted Hunter’s motion to dismiss the case Thursday after the former first son claimed he was too broke to continue suing former Trump staffer Garrett Ziegler and his nonprofit Marco Polo.
Hunter Biden is asking to withdraw his lawsuit against a former White House aide, Garrett Ziegler, whom he accused of “illegally” accessing and sharing the contents of his infamous laptop because he “does not have the resources to continue to litigate this matter.”
In a court filing on Wednesday, attorneys for President Biden’s surviving son asked for the lawsuit to be dismissed. Mr. Ziegler, who worked at the White House during Mr. Trump’s first term, maintained a comprehensive, searchable database where the public could access the contents of the laptop, including obscene photos and videos of Hunter Biden using crack cocaine and consorting with women believed to be prostitutes.

We always knew that large swaths of the mainstream media were going to treat Joe Biden with kid gloves for much of his presidency. Part of this was the usual preference for Democrats over Republicans. A lot of this was the widespread belief among media elites that Donald Trump’s first term had been an unparalleled catastrophe, and Biden needed all the boosting he could get to keep Trump from coming back. President Biden pardoned five members of his family in his last minutes in office, saying in a statement that he did so not because they did anything wrong but because he feared political attacks from incoming President Donald J. Trump.
