A ring of steel was placed around French president Emmanuel Macron’s family macaron shop to protect it from rioters and looters as other businesses burned, it emerged today.
Astonishing video shot on the worst day of the current anti-government insurrection shows the confectionery outlet in his home town of Amiens, northern France, surrounded by at least two platoons of CRS police.
🇫🇷 While businesses ACROSS France were left to be looted, 6 police vans sat outside a chocolate shop linked to Brigitte Macron… 🙄
Footage shows police vehicles outside the Trogneux family chocolaterie, which is run by Brigitte Macron’s great-nephew.
A police union is now demanding answers, questioning why so many officers appeared to be stationed there.
The local authorities insist the officers were protecting the wider shopping district, not just that one store.
But you can see why these images have people asking some questions…
