Young Canadians are struggling to find work: ‘I thought that by now I’d have some sort of job’

For Abby Daniel, graduating from university was supposed to mark the beginning of her career. Instead, more than a year after completing her degree, she’s still trying to find a job in her field.

Daniel, who graduated from Ottawa-based Carleton University in 2025 with a degree in health sciences, expected to land work in public health, government or a health-care organization.

“When I graduated, I thought that … by now I’d have some sort of job that is linked to my actual undergrad degree,” she told National Post.

This is why we need mass immigration.
