Remember, remember the fifth of November: the day Prime Minister Mark Carney turned Canada’s finances to ember.
It would not surprise me if Carney, the former governor of the Bank of England and a British citizen from 2018-2025, chose Nov. 5 to release his second budget. It is the date on which the United Kingdom commemorates Bonfire Night, a celebration of the monarchy’s survival after Guy Fawkes’ plot to blow up Parliament in 1605 was foiled.
Here is the breakdown of the biggest recipients of new spending in the 2026 budget.
Anything stand out to you? Anything concerning?
Will any of this even move the needle on improving the quality of life for Canadians? https://t.co/IKxcJQpwKZ— Ryan Gerritsen🇨🇦🇳🇱 (@ryangerritsen) November 6, 2026
