British Columbia’s Conservative Party won a commanding majority government on Saturday, securing a landslide victory that will see Lorne Doerkson take over the premier’s office from David Eby following a highly unpopular election call.
While results are not yet final, analysts late on Saturday evening were projecting the Conservative Party to win 64 seats, compared to the NDP’s 27. The Green Party was projected in early results to win two seats. Such a result would put the newly formed Conservative Party comfortably over the 47 seats it needs to form a majority, and deliver Doerkson one of the most lopsided electoral victories in B.C. history.
I lived in BC for a time.
Elections are followed by a collective “I voted for what?” the next morning as the hangover kicks in.
