John Ivison: France is in flames and it’s a gift to the far right

My eldest son landed in Paris on Thursday to begin a year teaching English there, just as the capital was gripped by student riots.

“The first thing I saw was a massive fire in the middle of the street,” James said, adding that rioters were shooting fireworks at police.

France is burning. The spark was the student protest over high school conditions but the tinder is broad dissatisfaction on the left with the political status quo, not to mention fears over the prospect of a far right government next year.

I guess the far-right guy is the one with the peaceful aerosol can flame thrower.

15 year old Gift Giver arrested

French police have arrested a 15-year-old rioter after he used a makeshift flame-thrower to burn a woman’s face.

The attack was captured on video as thousands of youngsters went on the rampage over poor conditions in their schools.
