Five years after a lone gunman opened fire from a Las Vegas hotel on a country music festival crowd, there is little comfort and no answers to what triggered the massacre of scores of people — the worst mass shooting America had ever witnessed.

Today, a memorial at the northeast corner of festival grounds that turned into a killing field is still in the planning stages by Clark County government officials, who hope the victims of the Oct. 1, 2017, bloodshed are never forgotten.

UVALDE, Texas (AP) — The Uvalde school district fired police chief Pete Arrendondo on Wednesday, making him the first officer to lose his job over the hesitant and fumbled response by law enforcement at Robb Elementary School as a gunman killed 19 students and two teachers in a fourth-grade classroom.

In a unanimous vote that arrived after months of angry calls for his ouster, the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District’s board of trustees fired Arredondo in an auditorium of parents and survivors of the May 24 massacre. His ouster came three months to the day after one of the deadliest classroom shootings in U.S. history.

July 29 (Reuters) – The parent of far-right conspiracy website InfoWars filed for U.S. bankruptcy protection on Friday as the company and its founder Alex Jones face up to $150 million in damages in a trial over longstanding falsehoods he perpetuated about the Sandy Hook elementary school massacre.

The bankruptcy filing by the InfoWars parent, Free Speech Systems LLC, would normally result in the trial and related litigation being halted. But Free Speech plans to ask a bankruptcy judge to allow the trial currently underway in Texas to continue and is seeking an emergency hearing on Monday, according to a court filing.

Two victims are dead and two others are seriously hurt after a series of shootings at several different locations in Langley, B.C., prompted emergency alerts early Monday.

A suspect was later identified and shot dead by police.

RCMP were called to the downtown core of the City of Langley and the neighbouring Township of Langley for reported shootings “in the early hours of the morning,” according to a statement.

The cops’ overly cautious approach made them bystanders to the mass murder of children.

A report into the Robb Elementary School shooting commissioned by the Texas House of Representatives found no single weak point in the authorities’ response. Instead, it indicted every single one of the 23 agencies involved. Any of these could have taken control of the situation, yet none did. ‘They failed to prioritise saving the lives of innocent victims over their own safety’, is the report’s damning verdict.

Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District officials are reportedly set to fire police chief Pete Arredondo come Saturday, several weeks after he held officers back for an hour while the gunman killed 19 elementary school students.

Sources close to the school board told CNN Arredondo will be fired over his botched leadership at the Robb Elementary School massacre that left the students and two of their teachers dead on May 24.

Parents and members of the community have continued to demand the board fire Arredondo after it was discovered he told officers to stand back for an hour while Salvador Ramos, 18, continued to shoot at children in the school.

A new poll from Convention of States Action and the Trafalgar Group shows Americans no longer trust local and federal law enforcement to stop mass shootings. This outcome should be no surprise after a long string of mass shootings where law enforcement knew the perpetrator before the tragedy.
