The MAGA wipeout has been greeted abroad as something of both a humiliation of President Donald Trump and the beginning of “normal” politics. Foreign leaders from Tehran to Brussels could hardly contain their glee.
Yet this should not be taken, as some may hope, as a permanent victory for the liberal globalist worldview that dominated during the Obama years. People, particularly today, are more likely to vote against someone, or a party, than for them. It was detestation of Hillary Clinton and then Kamala Harris that allowed the never widely popular Trump to get into office.
Progressives are as progressives does.
