Canada ramps up ability to fight wars as peacekeeping role recedes

Geez I wonder how this ended!

OTTAWA — Back in February this year, over 11 days at a military base in Kingston, Ont., the Canadian Army was at war.

At least, it pretended it was.

The “division-level war game” that played out that month simulated — on computer screens, whiteboards, and tabletop battle maps — what it would be like to fight a “high-intensity conflict against a peer adversary,” the military explained in a subsequent statement.
