Elder of Ziyon: “Expert” Karen Armstrong says murdering Jews in Paris has nothing to do with Jew-hatred

Karen Armstrong is a historian and “religion expert” who is a consistent apologist for radical Islam, and a frequent guest on TV programs. She has a lucrative career speaking and writing about religion.

In a recent interview, she makes this outrageous claim:

We’re piling all the violence of the 21st Century on the back of religion, sending it away, saying we have nothing to do with religion. While we still have to deal with the political situation. The supermarket attack in Paris was about Palestine, about Isis. It had nothing to do with antisemitism; many of them are Semites themselves. But they attempt to conquer Palestine and we’re not talking about that. We’re too implicated and we don’t know what to do with it.

Are the kosher-consumer French Jews guilty because they support Jews living in their historic homeland, or because most of them will end up moving to Israel because of these types of attacks on their stores and schools and synagogues that have nothing to do with anyone hating Jews?…

“It’s beyond stupid”: Bill Maher responds to backlash against Islam views

There has been a huge controversy ever since Bill Maher and Sam Harris criticized Islam on his show “Real Time with Bill Maher”. The video is here on YouTube.

Salon published an interview with Karen Armstrong, during which she said his comments were “the sort of talk that led to concentration camps in Europe. The sorts of things that people were saying about Jews in the 30s and 40s.”

Salon now reports his response to the interview:

“It doesn’t sting because it’s beyond stupid. Jews weren’t oppressing anybody. There weren’t 5,000 militant Jewish groups. They didn’t do a study of treatment of women around the world and find that Jews were at the bottom of it. There weren’t 10 Jewish countries in the world that were putting gay people to death just for being gay. It’s idiotic.”

Karen Armstrong is wrong, wrong, wrong on Bill Maher

Why is Karen Armstrong famous?… If you don’t listen to National Public Radio or watch TED, you might not know who Karen Armstrong is.

Left-leaning media regularly trot out Armstrong to reassure the masses that Islam is a religion of peace and that Christianity and the West are responsible for the world’s woes…

…On November 23, 2014, Salon published an article with this lengthy title, “Karen Armstrong on Sam Harris and Bill Maher: ‘It Fills Me With Despair, Because This Is The Sort Of Talk That Led To The Concentration Camps'”

You really don’t have to read the rest of the article after that rather clunky and alarmist headline, now, do you?…

Everybody knows what the allusion to “Sam Harris and Bill Maher” is all about.

On September 26, 2014, on his HBO show “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Maher tweaked his fellow liberals. Liberals rant and rave about sexism, he said, as long as the accused are Republican Christians…

…Salon asked Armstrong about the October 3 episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher.” Armstrong responded “It fills me with despair, because this is the sort of talk that led to the concentration camps in Europe.”

Salon asked “Is Islamophobia today comparable to anti-Semitism?” and Armstrong answered that Islamophobia is “deeply enshrined in Western culture. It goes right back to the Crusades … We’ve recoiled, quite rightly, from our anti-Semitism, but we still have not recoiled from our Islamophobia”…

Karen Armstrong, apologist extraordinaire for Islam, has a new book – something to avoid

Islamic State is like a bad dream. Its horror flashes up on our screens, so out of place in the waking world of cities and shopping and work. Its adherents wave what looks like a pirate flag. They are crazy, incomprehensible, intoxicated.

Some kind of spell must have been cast over them to rob them of reason and compassion. But what exactly? There are those who feel confident of the answer. “A hatred of infidels is arguably the central message of the Qur’an,” writes Sam Harris, author of The End of Faith. “The reality of martyrdom and the sanctity of armed jihad are about as controversial under Islam as the resurrection of Jesus is under Christianity.” He goes on: “horrific footage of infidels and apostates being decapitated has become a popular form of pornography throughout the Muslim world. But there is now a large industry of obfuscation designed to protect Muslims from having to grapple with these truths.”

Harris would regard Karen Armstrong as a captain of that industry. In her new book, the former nun stubbornly refuses to accept that responsibility for beheadings, suicide bombings and the persecution of minorities can be laid at the door of Islam. Is she a head-in-the-sand apologist? One of those whose interpretation of events wishes, in Tony Blair’s words, “to eliminate the obvious common factor in a way that is almost wilful”?…

Short summary: She defends Islam by pointing to violence over religion in the past — sometimes the very distant past. And of course, there are phenomena like Communism, which killed millions but was not religious. She errs is saying that Armenian Genocide was not connected to religion — of course it was — they were Christians and the Turks felt threatened by them.

I have never suggested that man is not a violent species. The question is, in the present, is Islam bringing out the violence and giving psychos a chance to legitimize their pre-existing tendencies? Of course it is. You have to be a blind fool not to see that.  Which she is, in spades, saying Islam is being made a scapegoat.

She even drags this in this old crap to defend the Islamic State: “its members have endured colonization, the expropriation of land, authoritarian rule and military occupation. Could these stressors come to be seen as the greater cause?”

How many non-Muslim countries have a sword on their flag? (Saudian Arabian flag shown above). Saudi Arabia was never colonized.
