Kurdish forces put down riot by ISIS prisoners in Syria

Kurdish forces have put down a riot at a prison believed to be holding British Islamic State (Isil) suspects in northern Syria, according to the US-led coalition.

Jihadist detainees at the Dayrik prison near the Iraqi border attacked their guards and attempted to break out of the compound.

Troops from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Kurdish-led fighting force, subdued the rioters with no casualties reported, a coalition spokesman said.
