‘Why Go to School When the World Is Burning?’ We Asked Students Why They’re Striking For Climate Change
Anna Grace: I want adults to know that climate change has hit many people very hard already. And it’s going to hit our young generation even harder. That’s scary to think about. It’s really not a Republican issue, it’s really not a Democratic issue, it’s not a party issue. Every single person is in this fight whether they like it or not.
Zane: The world is dying because of climate change and humans are basically the only group that can stop it.
Braird: We can’t stop it unless everyone tries to do something.
Study Finds White Americans Primarily Cause Air Pollution, But Black People and Latinx Are the Ones Who Breathe It
America’s racial gap colors every aspect of its landscape: the places we live, the water we drink, and, as a new study shows, the very air we breathe.
According to research published Monday in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), black people and non-white Hispanics disproportionately breathe air polluted by non-Hispanic white people. What makes the study particularly remarkable is that it looks beyond the immediate environments black people and non-white Latinx typically inhabit, which have already been established as more likely to be closer to industrial zones that cause pollution.
Article In The Atlantic Says “Trudeau’s Feminist Brand Is Imploding”
The Trudeau PMO scandal has caused massive damage to Justin Trudeau’s image.
The damage has occurred because it revealed the real Justin Trudeau: A servant of the corrupt elites with an image that was a total fraud.
And in a great article in The Atlantic, journalist Katherine Laidlaw details how Trudeau’s ‘feminist brand is imploding,’ including pointing out that his ‘feminist’ agenda seems to be more about other countries, instead of Canada.
Italy outraged as court finds victim too ugly to be raped
Italy’s Justice Ministry has ordered a preliminary inquiry into an appeals court ruling that overturned a rape verdict in part by arguing that the woman who was attacked was too ugly to be a credible rape victim.
The ruling has sparked outrage in Italy, prompting a flash mob Monday outside the Ancona court, where protesters shouted “Shame!” and held up signs saying “indignation.”
Physicists reverse time using quantum computer
Researchers from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology teamed up with colleagues from the U.S. and Switzerland and returned the state of a quantum computer a fraction of a second into the past. They also calculated the probability that an electron in empty interstellar space will spontaneously travel back into its recent past. The study is published in Scientific Reports.
“This is one in a series of papers on the possibility of violating the second law of thermodynamics. That law is closely related to the notion of the arrow of time that posits the one-way direction of time from the past to the future,” said the study’s lead author Gordey Lesovik, who heads the Laboratory of the Physics of Quantum Information Technology at MIPT.
Walter Williams: Is Income Inequality Fair?
Some Americans have much higher income and wealth than others. Former President Barack Obama explained, “I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.” An adviser to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who has a Twitter account called “Every Billionaire Is A Policy Failure” tweeted, “My goal for this year is to get a moderator to ask ‘Is it morally appropriate for anyone to be a billionaire?'” Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren, in calling for a wealth tax, complained, “The rich and powerful are taking so much for themselves and leaving so little for everyone else.”
