Crown to appeal Quebec mosque gunman Alexandre Bissonnette’s sentence

The Quebec Crown prosecutors’ office and the provincial attorney general will appeal the sentence handed down to the gunman who killed six worshippers in a Quebec City mosque, saying it was too short.

On Jan. 29, 2017, Alexandre Bissonnette stormed into Quebec City’s Islamic Cultural Centre and opened fire. He was sentenced Feb. 8 to life in prison without the possibility of parole for at least 40 years.
