Conservatives ask RCMP to investigate SNC-Lavalin affair

OTTAWA—Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer has asked the RCMP to a launch criminal investigation into allegations that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his office tried to politically interfere with the criminal prosecution of SNC-Lavalin.

Scheer said testimony Wednesday by former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould — who told the House of Commons justice committee she resisted a “concerted and sustained” campaign of pressure on her to drop bribery and fraud charges against the Quebec company — amounted to evidence of obstruction of justice.
